I thought it important to share this in case no one has gotten it or does not have Norton security.
It was an official looking and sounding email from MS: With an attached patch which in actuality is a worm!

First thing I notified MS here is what Norton told me:
Sender: MS Corp. Security Center cbwhkrso@confidence.com Recipient-Commercial Consumer wnhfstav-ismwra@confidence.com Subject:Current Update Q251476.exe -worm automatically
If you get anything from MS make sure you scan it first! Don't use any patch through email! We know updates do not come this way

Please, people...
Microsoft does not send email to individuals about viruses. If you use Hotmail, you may receive security notices from them, but they will advise you to visit the Microsoft website to downloads fixes. They are not going to attach a fix to an email message.

This wasn't from Microsoft, Microsoft NEVER distributes patches by mail. It's just a common virus making the rounds.

This is not really from Microsoft...but unlike many virus warnings, this one is legitimate. Do not open any of the attachments on the e-mail if you receive it.

I have had at least 40 emails purporting to be from MS, System admin, returned mail, undeliverable mail etc.
I don't know how my email address got so pupular, but my antivirus software is working overtime on this garbage.
Strange, but SAProxy does not seem to catch many of them and mark them as spam.

Where has THIS goofball been?
To: JustPiper
Never Never open an attachment with an .exe extension. I recieved the same email last week on !Yahoo and for giggles, I scanned it on their sever, it was a virus. I just deleted it and wondered how many people took the bait.
To: JustPiper
I've received 57 of those stupid things just today. It wasn't from Microsoft (although the email headers are forged to appear that way). Its a worm called Worm.Automat.AHB that is going around the Internet.
Microsoft doesn't distribute system updates via email. If you get any more emails claiming to be from Microsoft, you can rest assured that it is probably a virus, and you should delete it immediately.

I use the Mail Washer and it didn't mark it either, I think that's because of the email seeming legit. I also don't pass out my email address and never seemed to get the worm until I began to sign petitions and the thing is our email is 'supposed' to be private.

Actually, I love this one. They copped actual Microsoft look & feel, logos, etc. If the author of this is ever found, you can bet Microsoft will have his butt. And his house. And first born.

Ok, I wasn't as fortunate as you guys!! Somehow, I opened that stupid new virus that has the bogus virus warnings. I thought Norton would cath it, but I was up late and tired, so I guess I wasn't paying attention!! SOOO HOW or WHERE do I go online to get the patch to fix my computer, can you tell me???
