WHY CLARK WILL FADE
New York Post ^ | 9/23/03 | DICK MORRIS

Asked if Bush should be re-elected, Americans vote no by 50-44.

Equally astonishing is the sudden rise of Gen. Clark. After only a week as the media's darling, he leads the Democratic pack with 14 percent of the vote to Dean's and Joseph Lieberman's 12 percent, with Kerry at 10 percent and Dick Gephardt at 8 percent.

Morris dismisses Clark as a "media-created candidate". Bill Clinton was also one.
Are these poll numbers for real...Has Pres. Bush really fallen so far? The way he has been so trusted, it doesn't seem very likely.

Um, Bush has "fallen" to 51% from something like 60. That is percent of the whole country, not Republicans. That is supposedly an "astonishing drop". Clark meanwhile has the support of 14% of democrats - not the populace. Dems are around a third, a little less. So the portion of the whole voting public actually supporting Clark is under 5%. That is supposedly the sign of a "darling" and a "frontrunner".

There are 10 times as many core Bush supporters as there are Clark supporters. But Clark gets 9 nice adjectives in place of his 9 missing voters to try to make up for it. Being liberal means never having to do the math...

THE shocking truth about the U.S. presidential race is that the sudden and headlong collapse of President Bush's popularity...

There is reality, and there is Planet Morris.

"...how far can Bush drop before we hear the splash at the bottom of the well?"

This Morris makes more sense.

Because he's CREEPY! (And so is Morris, but as long as he savages the 'Toons, let him keep yapping.)

"Hillary and Bill support confusion, chaos and consternation as their preferred strategy for Democrats in 2004 life."

Morris is a Clintonite in this way, his writing is influenced by poll numbers. When polls were high for Bush, he seemed to be pro-Bush, rooting for the President.

Now that Bush is down in the polls, he's heavily rooting for the Dems.

He's an invention of his own imagination, and IMHO, not one to be taken seriously.

Anyway, Bush is not campaigning, the other 9, now 10, candidates are.

Televised debates, lots of media coverage, I'd expect them to be polling higher because of the media exposure.

Bush said a good thing last night on the Brit Hume interview. He said the campaign slogan now is "I hate Bush, so vote for me."

But when the race got down to two folks, himself and the Dem candidate, then he'd enter the fray and bring about substantive dialogue. "In the meantime," the President said, "I've got a job to do."

A point that the media seems to have overlooked.

I believe Clark will fade, because he's not running on his own beliefs, but on those the clintons are providing for him. The man has already shown he's not ready for prime time, and this after what has to have been months of tutoring by the clinton stooges. They didn't all just jump on his bandwagon in the last few days.

I think President Bush will again beat them all out, once he starts talking to the American people.

There was some article here that predicted A Bush drop to 50% before he started to campaign. And then he would win in a landslide! about 3-6 months ago.

there is one problem with these polls.

there is a poll on Drudge saying that clark polled better than Bush.

But I suspect that 60 percent of americans never heard of Clark. So the pollsters probably dropped the opinions of those who never heard of Clark from their polls, which skewered the poll.

Unless they included a number "don't know who this guy is", you should not pay attention to these polls.

Morris has his own agenda, and it doesn't seem to be the Republicans' best interests. He fails to mention that the polls are either push polls or omit the voters who don't know Clark at all. In a related item, on H&C, Dick Morris predicted that if the California recall succeeded, Bustamante will win. Given Dick's track record of predictions, I think we can take comfort that there will be a Republican governor in California soon.

" But then I remembered what kind of wild and crazy guys the dims have nominated over the past 40 years."

" In a row, they chose Johnson. Humphrey. McGovern. Carter. Mondale, and Dukakis."

I must have missed the Johnson nomination.

Nominating convention held on the sixth floor of the Texas Schoolbook Depository.

If Bush faces off against Clark in 2004, watch the photograph of Wesley Clark yucking it up with a war criminal appear in every Bush ad, along with pictures of the mass graves.

Bush is just not getting his message out. Powell and Rice are not effective in this role and sound scripted.

LOL

" If Bush faces off against Clark in 2004, watch the photograph of Wesley Clark yucking it up with a war criminal appear in every Bush ad, along with pictures of the mass graves."

IMO Clark is a true dwarf, in the realm of those other nine dwarves.

The Dean dwarf, alone, will make the "General" surrender.

The good thing to come out of this may be the final, and long awaited, extinction of the Clintonistas.

Not to sound too confident but, it's way too early.

The game clock hasn't even started yet.

Powell & Rice are cabinet officers, not re-election aids.

Keep the faith.
