California gubernatorial candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger extended an olive branch to his chief GOP rival after Wednesday night's one and only full-field debate before the Oct. 7 recall vote.
Speaking to reporters in spin alley about his performance, an optimistic Schwarzeenegger volunteered, "The great thing was with Sen. McClintock, you know, that he and I agree on so many issues, which was good. And on some issues we don't but on many, many issues we do."
Then Schwarzenegger added, "I think that we could make a good team in Sacramento. I'm looking forward to working with him."

That's nice of Arnold to offer to work with McClintock, but I would think Tom already has a chauffeur.

Well if he does have a chauffeur, we're paying for it. At least Arnold pays for his own.

I think Tom should volunteer to accept a position as Lieutenant Governor.

I think I agree with Issa who wished the other day he could combine the two. McClintock is not a charismatic leader but he certainly knows what to do. Arnold knows how to persuade and how to get others to follow. A lot of his policy assumptions are naive (at best), though.
I'd vote for Schwarzenegger if he had Tom as his Budget Director. It's really a tough call, though. I don't want Arnold to make the Pubbies catch the blame if he doesn't give CA the proper economic medicine it needs.
On the other hand, California will likely be included in the upcoming economic expansion so that may offset potential RINO moves from Arnold.

Why are [Schwarzenegger supporters] always so sour? They loathe themselves.

"When I talked to Tom even before he got in, he told me a couple of things that when you have these kind of conversations you never forget," Issa told Hannity.
"He said, 'Look, I'm not going to be in this race if it's not a crowded field. I know the numbers for a conservative. And I'm not going to stay in and be a spoiler.'"

I think Tom should volunteer to accept a position as Lieutenant Governor. Nice thought, but it is an office elected independent of the Governor. Cruz Big Breasts will remain the incumbent when he loses, and I don't think he'll give it up so Arnold can appoint Tom.

It no longer matters if McClintock stays in. He can continue voting against any and all budgets as a state senator. Issa and the rest of the Republican establishment will make the winner of tonight's debate all too clear tomorrow. Governor Schwarzenegger is coming in less than two weeks.

The entire time I was a democrat, I believed that republicans were mean spirited people. When I changed my registration, I thought I had been lied to by the rat party all of these years. Recently however, I have found that maybe they weren't wrong afterall.
The behavior of some on the recall threads has been reprehensible, and I am appalled at the attacks on each other and other republicans. There are those who feel if a person doesn't see things exactly like they do, they are worthless RINO'S. As if there were a rule book for republicans and those not meeting each point were less than human.
Disgusting behavior to say the least.

"He said, 'Look, I'm not going to be in this race if it's not a crowded field. I know the numbers for a conservative. And I'm not going to stay in and be a spoiler.'"And five minutes before he walked on Leno's stage, Arnold told Jay that he wouldn't run for governor.
But that doesn't count, does it?

What Hildy said was very funny. You didn't laugh?

so Arnold can appoint Tom. I don't know why anyone would want that. Wouldn't McClintock be more valuable in the Senate directly working with the legislation? If Tom throws his support behind Ahnold if his numbers don't go up after the debate(I don't think they will go up enough to matter) and Ahnold wins, they work together on things and McClintock takes over in 2006 or whenever the next regular election.
By then, it will be time to start filming T4 after they use Schwarzenegger's star power to drill some common sense into enough people to get things back on track.
