Steyn nails the media for their phony polls.

Peach I told you that poll was cooked.

A howler!

A howler, yes -- but I think the "car keys" line is spot-on. The D's are headed for a real war to see whether or not the Clintons will remain in control of the party.

That battle will have to take place before next summer's convention.

Should be a very interesting winter and spring.

That’s what he is to the public at the moment: ‘None Of The Above’ in a General’s uniform.

Now that is a perfect characterization of Clark's appeal!

On Howard Dean: To date, he’s run a brilliant campaign and is the principal beneficiary of his party’s visceral loathing of Bush and all his works. He’s poised to kill off two Democrat bigshots in the first two votes — former House minority leader Dick Gephardt in the Iowa caucus and Senator Kerry in the New Hampshire primary. Is he going to sit back and let some Clinton stooge who’s never run for anything steal the nomination away from him? Not if he’s the same Howard Dean I’ve spent a decade watching from my side of the Connecticut River. When the going gets tough, Dean gets mean.

Spot on. Howie ain't gonna go quietly. Look for an offensive against Clark next week. Dean will bloody and ravage anyone who tries to take the frontrunner spot away from him and he'll spoil the whole election for the Dims if that's what it takes. Howie is kind of a suicide-pact candidate. If he goes down, he'll try to take the rest down with him.

Howie will play the mad-dog role quite effectively, I think.

Dean is the nominee.

If I were a Democrat, my main priority for the party would be to get the car keys back from Bill Clinton. "

The pundits have been saying recently that this is the one thing that Howie can do for the Dims. All the others will be Bill's puppets, leading up to Hillary's disastrous run for the White House.

The Clintons are using Clark as a place card, just to keep the seat warm for Hill in case, come the spring, Bush looks weak enough to be going down. By then, Clark may be happy to settle for being Senator Rodham’s running mate.

For weeks now, Senator Kerry has been saying that he only voted for the Congressional resolution authorising war with Iraq in order to persuade Saddam to comply with Hans Blix. It never occurred to the Senator that anyone would mistake his vote in favour of war as a vote in favour of war. Why, that was the very last thing on his mind! For someone who’s supposed to be this season’s John McCain, Clark so far is doing a very good impression of the most tentative, equivocal and hair-splitting of the Democrat hacks he’s supposed to be the straight-talking alternative to.

THANK YOU THANK YOU for posting another of Steyn's brilliant pieces!

[ polls of registered voters are less accurate than polls of ‘likely voters’ ]

Hmmmmmm... sounds like a lot of dead people are voting.. multiple times maybe.. maybe a few illegals thrown in.

I disagree about your percolator comment. Nearly everyone who's gone camping has used a percolator, as it's the only way to make decent coffee over a fire. It keeps *most* of the grounds out. (BG)

Clark has been referred to as "our Eisenhower" on several posts I have read on demo underground.

Never underestimate a DUher's shameless ability to compare World War 2 to everything Clinton did.

Your picture does not accurately show the drooping, drippy mascara like she's been crying for a month and lipstick that slides off the down-turned edges of her lips, like we all saw in November when Republicans everywhere kicked butt in the elections! It's like her whole face slid south like runny cake frosting.

Thank you. I had been to his site before but I had forgotten about it. I'm spoiled about coming to FR and getting all my news. I don't even go to Drudge that much anymore.
