Note to Ted Rall's pharmacist - you've obviously shorted Ted some Thorazine this week.

"Bush gets FACTS from all kinds of sources...why would he waste time reading second hand stuff?"

Since I watched the interview with Brit Hume, the context for GW's statement that he didn't read the news was exactly that.

He stated that he preferred to get his information straight from the sources, that is, -the actual people involved, or people who had reported to his sources.

This fact obviously was deliberately ignored by this po-dunk reporter who felt snubbed and out of the Presidential information loop. And deservedly so!....

It must have been really upsetting to you that your guy lost, huh? There has NEVER been any credible evidence that Gore won. The NY Times and the Washington Post have admitted this FACT, though they have not gone out of their way to make a big deal out of it.

No, Teddy - hmm, another Teddy - you hate Bush because you sold your souls to steal Florida and you ended up selling them for nothing.

You misread my post. I never said I voted for Gore. In fact, I live in Texas and voted for Bush, so it mattered little to me who won in Florida. However, the bitterness of your reply indicates that I am right that Republicans would be very upset if the Supreme Court had ruled the other way. Our best hope for the future is simply to recognize that there was conflicting evidence as to which candidate won Florida, Bush or Gore.

Actually, your reply indicates that the liberals have gotten to you. The media tried like hell to find evidence that Gore won. Burnt the midnight oil. In the end, they were unable to come up with anything. Nothing. I challenge you to find one credible report that Gore won.
THERE ARE NONE.
And yet idiots like the author of this article have been repeating "Bush stole the election" for two years now. For people like yourself, that lie has begun to sink in.

I apologize for my earlier harsh tone. Welcome to FR. Stick around. You'll learn quite a bit here.

LBJ won that election by something like 500 votes.

It was actually a primary he won by 87 votes. There was massive voter fraud on both sides, so the only people that got screwed were the voters that voted honestly.

I'm just pointing out that there does exist some evidence that Gore won Florida, and thus the electoral college. Thus, it is not entirely unreasonable for Democrats to be upset that Bush became President. If the Supreme Court had sided with Gore, I expect that Republicans would be just as upset.

...because it would be an incorrect decision, *not* because it would have led to Gore winning. According to the after-the-fact analysis by several newspapers which recounted the ballots, Bush *stil* would have won even under Gore's "Florida Supreme Court" method of recounting the ballots.

He also pointed out that he gets his news from the people who make it - Condi Rice was his example. The papers are editorializing and filtering what Rummy or Powell or Condi said. He gets it directly from them. I doubt Powell would forget to mention that Chirac is being a jerk for example.

And that doesn't even cover the FBI / CIA and military briefings - all of which are better than one gets in the NYT. The liberal media has their knickers in a twist about something on a daily basis - not sure I would pay much attention to the cause of the day if I were him either. Most of it is irrelevant.

They admit that they hate him. Not that they have contempt for him, or for his policies, but that they unequivocally, and viscerally, hate him. That is terrifying, because it clearly means they have lost all reason, and are controlled exclusively by their emotions.

I remember mainly that my Grandfather was angry about it the rest of his life.

I really liked it when "Judge" Parr committed "suicide" by shooting himself with a four shot deer rifle six times;^)

"yet presidential elections always took place on schedule and the winners always took office. Bush ended all that..."

This guy's a nut! It was Gore and the FSC who tried to change that schedule that was set in the Florida State Constituion. Geez...they changed that "schedule" a couple times hoping Gore could come up with enough votes...overuling both a lower court and a Secretary of State. Do these people really believe their lies or are they just this dumb? I really can't tell any more.

I'm having a little bit of trouble with you. You signed up a week ago and waited until today to post your first post:
"Go easy on the liberals folks, Al Gore may actually have won."
And your post gets yanked, after it is pointed out to you that there is no evidence whatsoever to support this.
So what do you do? You post again, insisting that evidence exists that Gore won. Steve, read my lips ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE EXISTS THAT GORE WON. AND THIS IS NOT FOR EXTREME LACK OF TRYING.
The liberals searched with a fine tooth comb. Gore definitely lost. Uber-liberals like Hillary Clinton concede this. So does Al Gore. Anybody who thinks otherwise is delusional.

In any case, I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt. I don't know whether your account has been yanked yet or not. If it hasn't take my earlier advice: Welcome to FR, and enjoy yourself. But maybe, just maybe, you should keep some of your more ridiculous opinions to yourself for a while. You just might learn something.

I know Bush is informed... But his statement has been latched onto by this leftist and calling him uninformed. I feared that people would think that when he answer Humes question that way the moment I heard it. Which confirms that middle roaders would feel that too.

The Dems are going to latch onto anything they can

And if they are going to complain about this .. then they will have to complain about the Clinton's .. especially Hellary because she often states (including in her book) that she never reads the negative press about her.

Unlike Clinton .. President Bush meets with his National Secuirty Advisers on a daily bases

Clinton was to busy playing golf and getting BJ's to pay attention to this countries national security

Somebody around here has a tag line from Johnny Cash that says it's good to be hated by the right people. This article proves it.

"I'm just pointing out that there does exist some evidence that Gore won Florida, and thus the electoral college."

Wrong! There is no evidence that Gore won Florida based on the laws that existed prior to, and during, that election. Your assumptions are based on a standard for tallying votes that never existed in the state of Florida...nor any other state, for that matter.

"Thus, it is not entirely unreasonable for Democrats to be upset that Bush became President."

Democrats aren't upset...they're pathological. They've ignored and even lied about this issue, claiming blacks were blocked and Jews were misled. Even the issue of antiquated punch-card balloting was misepesented as if Bush had a hand in how these districts voted. These were Democratic districts, controlled and run by elected Democratic politicians who are responsible for their constituents.

"If the Supreme Court had sided with Gore, I expect that Republicans would be just as upset."

The Supreme Court did side with Gore...the Forida Supreme Court. Everyone complains how the USSC stuck it's nose into this case, when in reality, it was the FSC that stuck its nose in...without even being prompted. The FSC overruled several lower "democrat" judges who abided by the state constitution and legislative election law. Terry Lewis specifically ruled that Harris could certify the election, finding no reason to extend the deadline beyond what was required by the state constitution. The FSC usurped the Secretary of State, a liberal lower court and the state constitution.

And what ever happened to that butterfly ballot that provided the pretext for this fallcy? It was ruled constitutional. This was a setup from the beginning starting with TeleQuest as they decided to poll "democrats" on election-eve to see if they were confused while voting. If they were confused at the time of voting, they had a chance to rectify that by getting a new ballot. If they weren't, then how do they know they even made a mistake? Because someone planted the idea they may have voted wrong.

"I am pointing this out because I have seen numerous posters say things to the effect that there is no evidence that Gore won Florida, when in fact there is some evidence."

That evidence is only relevant if those votes were counted in a manner that never existed under current election law. Under-votes, over-votes, divining intent based on voter patterns, has never existed in any state.

"There is also evidence that Bush won Florida."

That's because he did.

"And, whether you agree or disagree with that evidence..."

What you call evidence is specualtion based on a hypothetical that never existed.

"If we recognize this fact when we respond to Democrats who complain that Bush "stole" the election, I believe that most of them will be more receptive to our arguments. As a result, we may even convince some over to our point of view."

Like the way they convinced you? Keep dreamin'.
