You've done a great job on that site hergus. That FIRST picture of Snott on phone, OMG for the chance to smack that arrogant jerk upside the head!! I hope he presents that "look" to the Jury too.

"Okay. For me, that ends any doubt as to whether there really was a life insurance policy. And it ends any doubt as to whether money may have been a partial motive for Scott to kill Laci.

Principal Life Insurance Co. Hmmm. Wonder when the policy was really taken out. (I know what Scott said, but he's been known to lie...)"

I think I read on another web site that it was taken out in the summer of 2001. The insurance info is in recently filed court documents. It could have been a partial motive, but I don't think it was the primary motive. I think we often error in assuming that behavior is motivated by one factor when in fact there is almost always several motivations....Scott's motivations: freedom, independence, maintenance of image, access to Amber, and $250,000 is a nice side benefit.

Just heard Rita Cosby say on Fox that she contacted King because Scott offered to do a private polygraph for her after she had the press conference. Law enforcement was going to set up a sting but the polygraph never happened. Gets stranger and stranger, doesn't it?

Try this on for size: suppose King WAS the one who was "Amber's private investigator client/friend." When did she hire this friend? Theoretically, King (or his staff), in perhaps following Scott around, could have actually SEEN him going into City Lights! (If, that is, Scott continued to go there during December.) Or could have seen for himself whom Scott talked to.

It's starting to look like the "eyewitnesses" are going to cancel each other out.

Rita Cosby is reporting that Amber contacted King after her press conference because Scott agree to a private polygraph. She may have more on her show...starts in a minute or two.

"maintenance of image"

Yes! I think you should put that particular motive at the top of the list!

And wouldn't you agree that there are some people who think becoming a parent makes them change fundamentally into an old, staid, boring grown-up--when they want to stay a youngster forever?

Absolutely...having a child is a significant life event and some people have a difficult time adjusting. In this case, I wonder how Scott felt about "sharing" Laci with a child. His reasons for not wanting a child may have been psychological as well as financial. If this guy is what he appears to be I would have feared for Amber's child.

Thanks. I'm listening to Rita's show now.

I can't believe the police even considered sneaking one of their guys in there and pretending that he was Amber's privately-hired lie detector guy. I think any evidence they might have gathered that way would have been suppressed, which of course means it would have been of absolutely no use to them, and it might have endangered other, legitimate stuff they had gathered.

I also can't believe that these people are sitting there talking as though in testimony all this stuff, about Amber setting up a lie detector, would be allowed in. I believe that any judge they have at trial will forbid any mention of any lie detector--no matter who was going to set it up.

I think I just heard it said on Rita Cosby that Melvin King is a polygrapher.

You need to get caught up. For the last 100 posts or so, people here have been talking about how King is the one who gave a polygraph to Cory Carroll.

I agree with you on the lie detector - I can't imagine how it would have benefited the investigation. The bottom line is, though, I don't think Scott would have ever followed through. It does support my hypothesis that he was obsessed with Amber. His pregnant wife is missing and feared dead and he is calling his mistress 20 times a day and offering to take lie detector tests. Even though the lie detector discussion may not come in, I bet there's plenty of other "schoomzing" the jury is going hear.

I mean, they won't even allow a MENTION of a lie detector, as a rule! Which is a shame--since there WAS no lie detector, and Scott's behavior and words, surrounding this discussion he had with Amber ABOUT the lie detector, says so much about his state of mind!

Oh, but you are so right--there is so much more that was probably said btw Scott and Amber!

The lie detector test did not take place because, police did not think they could get their people in place in time and didn't think they could pull it off. Sounds to me like you have read it right,LE figured it was absolutly no use to them in the court and as Judge Hatchett, of the panel said, it could even have backfired on them.

Geraldo just said this means Amber Frey's role in the case is more complicated than people thought. I don't know about that. I am thinking that her asking Scott to take a lie detector test might just have been Amber asking him exactly what the cops told her to ask him.

Much as I hope the prosecution successfully nails the murderer of Laci and her baby, I just gotta say that that scheme of their placing a "sting" in there for the lie detector strikes me as pretty sleazy tactics.

We're still left wondering if King and "Amber's PI client/friend" are one and the same.

When did she hire this friend?

FWIW, I seem to recall conversations that the PI was hired 11 days after the beginning of the relationship, and we calculated that it would have been December 1. Or maybe it was December 11? Don't have time to research that tidbit right now, but will try to later.

For once, just this once, I'm inclined to agree with Geraldo. I keep thinking about the book she reportedly sent him with the note he missed, among other things. You know, the note that said, "my phones are tapped" are something like that.
