TOM MCCLINTOCK DAILY EDITION - 9/28/03 (CA GOVERNOR'S RACE)
Posted on 09/28/2003 7:31:00 AM PDT by Rabid Dog
Please post local, regional, national news and views on Tom McClintock. This is a news and info thread. The following guidelines for posting are per DoughtyOne's most excellent suggestion.
McClintock Camp - Supporters or Defenders
Please post positive articles about Tom's policies and leave the Schwarzenegger bashing to the Democrats.
Schwarzenegger Camp - Supporters or Defenders
The call for McClintock to withdraw right now, or the tactic of calling him and his followers names for not doing so, is not productive and isn't good for the party.
Please save the Rino Arnold/Unelectable Tom rants for other threads.
"Dear Mr. Reagan, it should be obvious to you now that you can never be elected governor. Please put aside your ego, for the good of our party, and get behind the one man who is moderate enough to appeal to California voters - - San Francisco Mayor George Christopher."

He's already cancelling appearances and did not attack Arnold in the debates. His name stays on that ballot no matter what anyway.
Give it a rest, already. If Schwarzenegger can't win at this point he is truly a pathetic candidate.

Editorials on the recall
Several of the states major papers ring in this morning with editorials on the recall and almost all of them are negative. The Bee, the LA Times and the San Jose Mercury all recommend a No vote on the recall and pointedly refuse to endorse on the replacement question. The Times and the Bee take time to rip all the major contenders, while the Mercury pretty much ignores them. The San Diego Union-Tribune, meanwhile, endorses the recall after admitting its earlier misgivings, but doesnt yet endorse on question 2. Theres no hint if one is coming but no reason to suspect that the paper will not endorse someone soon.

Tom has said it would be "ok" for his supporters to switch their votes on election day, if he was still way behind in the polls. Does this make Tom a "sellout" and "traitor"? If not, please explain (rationally).
Of course, no self-respecting TomBot would have anything to do with a "sellout".

I know - it's hard to understand if you are used to the RNC's vote as we say - inspite of all the evidence to the contrary. Tom believes people can think for themselves. Novel idea in this election.
To: Rabid Republican
I've read so many threads and articles this morning I don't think I could recall the exact ones. I believe two in Northern Cali, and I don't remember if they were for today or tomorrow. Also, Saturday's walk was rescheduled for this Saturday, but frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't happen either.
Recall also what a gentleman he was during the debate. I think he's making his statement already - the statement he can live with - and if people are too dense to get it, that's their problem.
If I do locate that article with the info again I'll ping you, though.

To all of you mcperot people; there is an old saying that fits well here: Never hang around for the last dance because someone will hand you a broom and ask you to sweep up.
It's over gang. Tom's a good guy in the wrong situation. Let Arnold prove that a Republican (even a rino) can win and govern well and; maybe Tom can go after boxershorts.

Tom believes people can think for themselves. Novel idea in this election Yes, I know. An election, not a coronation. Remember those days?
To: AmericaUnited
You know what - that was a snippy reply I just made. Sorry - just tired of all the RNC shills on the forum.
No it does not make Tom a sell out. Tom is showing respect to his supporters. He gives them credit for voting using their brains instead of relying on CA G.O.P. propaganda. To me that is a sign of a great leader. I'd rather listen to a leader than a puppet - no matter how well meaning he might be.

You guys are sounding very desparate and pathetic. There are a number of threads that have been put up by RNC shills - I think you will get better participation over there. Most Tom supporters use this thread for info only, not debate.
Actually, ask eggsackley to be put on her ping list and then you won't miss a thing.
To: Rabid Republican
I second everything you said. You go!
To: truthkeeper
I know he cancelled one - might have been a hostile set-up. The walk is on for sure.
There are some admitted RNC shills on this board that are getting desparate - you will notice that most of the posts are put up by the same people. They are creating noise and distraction in the absense of evidence. One of them is working almost around the clock.
Hopefully, we will see a Field Poll this week that reflects the post-debate period.
To: Rabid Republican
According to me, Tom is not a sellout. It is his supporters who are, by saying that anyone who votes for Arnold because Tom isn't winning, is a sellout and traitor.
So, why is their boss Tom, giving credibility to "selling out" by saying it is ok?
To: AmericaUnited
The dog you want to hunt isn't over on this thread. Sorry.
To: Rabid Republican
Hopefully, we will see a Field Poll this week that reflects the post-debate period. OK...will it be time then? Just when will Tom show judgement? Leadership?
