The Fresno Bee reports that Bustamante, who completed his college degree late in life, was given preferential treatment by getting credit for a speech class he never attended. Cruz got the credit after a professor reviewed his public speeches for a few minutes and determined that he would get at least a

Well, a Toastmaster he aint, but having taken Speech in College I might be qualified to comment that he has honed both his verbal and non-verbal deliveries. I am not surprised that he succesfully audited Speech 1A, and would further say to the level of an A or B grade in the toughest of evaluations.
The vast majority of the content of his remarks, however, rates a failing score in my book.

"In my judgment at the time, he had certainly demonstrated minimal proficiency, and I emphasize minimal proficiency ... in the fundamental skills mandated by the course," Robert Powell, former chairman of the communication department, said last week. He interjected: "I'm not going to make any judgment about the eloquence or anything else" of Bustamante's speeches. ROFL

Funny thing is, this was released with the same m.o. and fingerprints that other material from the Davis slime machine has been dropped over the years.
I think Davis is trying to take down Cruz on his way out.

So what say Mr. Weintraub's bosses and censors, the best and brightest Bee brains? From today's Sacramento Bee:
Editorial: Vote 'No' on recall. No one, sad to say, looks better than Davis
In his regular column Mr. Weintraub reports on "The Future of American Democracy," a book by Glen Browder.
Browder says California is leading the way. One aspect of that he describes as "centrifugal democracy." To wit,
On the cultural front, Americans are dividing into smaller and smaller factions, defined by interest, profession and sometimes ethnicity. These groups are increasingly well organized, feel entitled to their narrow slice of the national bounty and are prepared to fight for it.
Being rather simple minded I'd say that's a euphemism for civil war. But Mr. Weintraub sees more subtleties and goes on to explain his own ideas as Emerging California and Traditional California.
It's probably his best column in years.

On slumlords. True or not that's been said of Barbara "Check Bouncer" Boxer and her loving lawyer husband for years. So, like, they are in the Emerging California group, like, you know what I mean. . . .

I agree, but the papers did very little with Al Gore's even worse situation. I would say a few inquiring calls into the Lt. Governor's office from concerned CA citizens might be appropriate and effective.

This just in from the big
So What news department.
Come on folks, this is smear politics. It does not matter who it is against.
