Is your intent to truly learn why some are voting for Schwarzenegger? Or is this a hit thread designed to bash those who support him?

The principle of stopping a Separist, Marxist panderer to illegal immigrants, lawlessness, and Institutionized Theivery on an unprecidented scale.

Not good enough for you?

Arnold supporters are smart enough to recognize flame bait when they see it even if it did get by you.

My opinion is that since Tom McClintock does not have enough time to sway moderates (i.e. voters without firm political convictions) to his side, there is no chance that a conservative can take the Governor's Mansion. Since I believe that way, I would rather have someone in the Governor's Mansion who will cost the Democrats tens of millions of dollars defending California from Bush in the next election.

If Schwarzenegger is elected, the DNC will have to spend valuable resources (which are always in short supply by the Dems) in the major media markets up and down California to counter the bully-pulpit that he will be campaigning for Bush from.

If Bustamante is elected, the DNC can focus that money on Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio and Indiana to try their Rust Belt strategy that almost put Gore in the White House.

I'm supporting Arnold for this reason: I believe that an Arnold victory will help Bush in 2004 if Arnold helps him campaign, of course. I believe that Arnold's popularity will help in Bush campaigning around California and will allow some of the people who voted for Arnold to take a look at Bush/Republicans for perhaps the first time. Plus, I'm supporting Arnold because California Republicans need a victory very badly, having gotten trounced recently everywhere. Even if for a RINO, want people out there to pull the (R) level.

If there were a primary, I'd support McClintock, no problem. But due to the uniqueness of this situation, I think that Arnold is the best shot Republicans have, and that Bush has, for 2004.

Flame away.
