So how would a poor record by Bustamante discredit conservatism? Because conservatives will be blamed for bringing forth a typhoon of bullshit if they can't make the mud stick to the Dems by winning the election. You don't stand on principle when you organize a recall, you win. The recall is a disruptive process that voids a previous election. Results must be favorable for the side bringing the action or your cause is discredited, period.
