It said Interior Minister Sheik Nawwaf Al Ahmed Al Sabah would hand over the smuggled weapons to an FBI agent at a news conference, but didn't say when. This is key. IF there was to be a news conference the news media would have known by now. The original post is nearly 5 hours old, an eternity in the media.
Seeing that no media outlet is telling us about possible breaking news at an upcoming news conference, I am beginning to believe there is something wrong with this story.

In a related development, Hitlery issued the following statement: "This is all Bush's fault. How could he let Iraq's chemical weapons, which they never had, be smuggled out of Iraq. This is more proof that the Democrat Party is the only party that Americans can trust with issues of national security".

Just as President Bush said. Well done Mr. President!

I haven't read many of the the posts on this thread, but... doesn't this start to make sense... the Dems realized that the WMDs gambit had a finite life span, and as I predicted months ago on a different thread, one big or even modest find nukes the "Bush lied about WMDs" argument. The Dems were always pushing their luck, so... when this "leak" gambit began to appear, they started planning to use it to steal the headlines... for when the inevitable WMD find was finally exposed. The Rush media Assassination has been planned for a long time, and now today... October 1st was the D-day for the DNC personal destruction machine. There is but one thing to do. COUNTERATTACK! Freepers, Bloggers, Conservative journalists, take off the gloves, and get ready for the fight of your life!

I haven't seen enough to get me to believe this story. Why hasn't it been picked up by other media sources?
I want it to be true. However, I will need more proof.

Drudge has posted it now. It slows is gaining traction. The story isn't a closed loop just yet. If someone wants to put the tinfoil hat on and doubt it completely, logical room still remains to do so.
Kuwait foils smuggling of chemicals, bio warheads from Iraq
Associated Press
Kuwait City, October 2
Kuwaiti security authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle $60 million worth of chemical weapons and biological warheads from Iraq to an unnamed European country, a Kuwaiti newspaper said on Wednesday.
The pro-Government Al-Siyassah, quoting an unnamed security source, said the suspects had been watched by security since they arrived in Kuwait and were arrested "in due time." It did not say when or how the smugglers entered Kuwait or when they were arrested.
The paper said the smugglers might have had accomplices inside Kuwait. It said Interior Minister Sheik Nawwaf Al Ahmed Al Sabah would hand over the smuggled weapons to an FBI agent at a news conference, but did not say when.
Government officials could not be immediately reached for comment.
Iraqi Interior Minister Nouri Al-Badran met on Tuesday with Sheik Nawwaf and discussed cooperation between the two countries in security matters. His visit is the first by an Iraqi interior minister to Kuwait since 1990.

It may be telling that the Hindustan Times web site no longer lists this story on either its main page, or in the World section that it was originally under.
