Bustamante can say he withdraws, but his name will remain on the ballot. I see this as another potential ruse to turn republicans complacent while the votes continue to go to Bustamante. This is nothing more or less than democrat spin. Out of chaos comes dem victory.

That's what I'm thinking: If Busty withdraws Hispanics won't show up to vote and recall wins with 58% of the vote. I'll bet the Dem strategists are totally confused while trying to figure out if Busty's withdrawal will help or hurt Davis on the recall vote. Davis is history. It's going to be interesting to see how Arnold deals with all the crazy liberal Politicians in Scaramento. It won't be easy for him.

two reasons:
I kind of misunderstood the post I was replying to, but ended up with a fascinating perspective by serendipity.
secondly, it shows how far ahead Arnold is of his two main competitors if he outpolls both of them together.

Yeah, A withdrawal by Bustamante would lessen the liberal Hspanic vote and thereby enhance the chances for the passage of the proposition I think it is called "54".

Poor DUers. They've censored any posts about the CA Recall. For real?? You mean that instead of just deciding they don't want to read a particular thread, they censor the entire topic off their board??
Bwahahaha! I never go over there, I don't want to get warts. But this is an eye-opener.

So if Bustemonte drops out, then why not vote for the true conservative, i.e. McClintock?

All the more reason for McClintock to stay in the race -- there has to be a high GOP turnout to keep Davis from defeating the recall on Question #1.
Somebody in the California GOP deserves a ton of credit if this whole thing works out.

I have trouble believing this report. If Bustamante drops out, Arnold wins with perhaps 65% of the vote, which is a huge mandate.
There is no upside to the Rats. Davis is not capable of rescue.
My BS detector is screaming in my ears.

Psychologically there would be a great fracture in the # of democrats who actually show up to the polls-- if Bustamante drops out. Also #54 [the use of racial information by the state] would be much more likely to pass. It is a great scenario--either way they go with this, they lose. As I always say, it could not be happening to nicer guys!

What will they try next? Geeze. They cannot win an election fairly, so they pull dirty trick after dirty trick.
