Re: LA Times

Let's take this a step further. Here's a few ideas for putting these steaming turds out of business.

1. They are filling the mail with postage paid postcards for people to subscribe. They typically come in the mail in these coupon packs. Send in as many as you can with phony subscription requests (real addresses/fake names). Burn them with postage expenses and fake subscriptions.

2. Take the FREE papers and simply recycle them, then cancel when they ask you to subscribe. Give them no cash, but take as much FREE as you can.

3. Tell stores that advertise with them that you are reconsidering you patronage based on their placing ads in the LA Times.

This will drain them of cash and hopefully help put them out of business.

Signed,

a proud non-subscriber for over 15 years

You can get them from the OC Register for about 1.25 or 1.50 (I forget). They pay for themselves. Sorry to hear about your computer job. Hope it gets better soon.

The LA Slimes has to be kidding - who in their right mind would believe they are not the Democrats private newspaper. They are working hand in glove with Grey Davis. They are proving once and for all just how disgusting a Liberal paper can get a few days before an election. Have they no sense of decency. Their Godlessness shows thru loud and clear. Here in the Heartland we saw our Left Wing paper the Red Star Tribune in Mpls. get behind Wellstone by raising a "Scandal" one week before his first election when he beat his Republican incumbent. This time Wellstone followers showed us all just what scum bags they are when the turned Wellstones wake into a Mondale can win rally!!! Win one for Paul was the rallying cry and his body wasn't even cold yet. The good folks in Minn. saw thru that ploy and turned their backs on the Democrats once and for all. The LA Slimes is just the latest example of what these big city papers attempt to do in directing the little guy to vote their interest.

I cancelled my Times subscription about 3 years ago. Before that, I used to subscribe to the OC Register. However, the delivery service never put it in a plastic wrapper on rainy days, so I stopped paying for a soaked copy of the Register.

After taking the Register again for a year, I dropped it as well. They advertise themselves as a Libertarian newspaper. However, they have minimal reporting staff and rely on AP, the NY Times wireservice, Reuters, the Wall Street Journal and others for most of their news stories. Except for the WSJ, all the other sources are left leaning trash. So, ask yourself how this can really be a Libertarian paper. As for the WSJ articles, they were reprints of the same articles I had read in the WSJ three days before.

As for local Orange County news, the Register does a poor job when it comes to reporting what happens in each community. They only cover county-wide issues. The local stuff is left to one small paragraph on one subject in each community.

I found the answer to be to cancel the Times and the Register and get my news on the internet. If you need to, you can access both papers on the internet for free. That way, I get to read the Daily Pilot, a publication of the Times which covers all the happenings in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. All the national news you need is on Free Republic and other conservative sites.

May I humbly suggest Investor's Business Daily out of Los Angeles. Worth the subscription price for their editorial page alone. Just toss the second section if you are not interested in the market.

...Oh, W-O-W, the new IKEA Home Furnishing Store in Orange County is the old Headquarters for the Orange County Edition of the Los Angeles Times..?

...Doesn't seem to have affected their reporting practices much, does it..?

Outside of Orange County itself OC Register Subscription Areas =

Corona CA
Whittier CA
Cerrittos CA
Chino Hills CA
Diamond Bar CA
and growing.

New OC Register Newstands have popped up all over the Inland Empire.

Buying "The OC" Register each day when you can't subscribe is really worth the effort, like at Southern California BARNEs & NOBLE, BORDERS bookstores and at 7-11's.

You might want to cancel your subscription. If your not sure you have a subscription you may want to cancel anyway. If you're sure you don't have a subscription, remember that you can never be too sure.

"Read the Times, Read the Lies!"

Cancelled my subscription to the Left Angeles Slimes around 1979.

I took my Black Lab, Ranger, to the dog beach a couple of weeks ago. A woman sat down on a towel and set her copy of the Sunday Times in the sand next to her. Ranger walked over and lifted his leg on the Times. I told the woman that I was really sorry, but I don't think she believed me because I couldn't stop laughing!

Good boy, Ranger dog!

Ranger got a nice big treat when we got home!
