Has Mark McEwan, Formerly of CBS, Replaced Julian Phillips on Fox & Friends Weekend?
Fox & Friends

Posted on 10/04/2003 4:39:34 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Tuning into Fox & Friends Weekend this morning, I note the presence, as one of the co-hosts, of former CBS weatherman Mark McEwan. A number of the Fox crew members welcomed him to Fox, so it's clear this is not a guest appearance, but a move from CBS to Fox.

I note the absence of Julian Phillips, and can only hope that McEwan has replaced him.

McEwan seems solid and mature and at ease with himself. In contrast, the simpering, and yes, effeminate, Julian Phillips gave me bad vibes.

I'd be interested to get the reaction to McEwan of other viewers.

I also hope McEwan is a permanent replacement. Of course personnel moves are a fluid situation. If McEwan gets good marks, I have to think it's likely he'll permanently replace Phillips. Think I'll also drop Fox an email praising McEwan.

Pardon my French, but the French have an expression about someone being "comfortble in his skin," and McEwan certainly seems that, in marked contrast with Phillips.

I like McEwan a lot, too. When my bleary little eyes saw him this morning I thought I had the wrong channel :)

"One down, two to go (I hope)."

Amen. For many months I have refused to watch F&F on the weekend. Can't stand the drivel. I've let Fox News know my opinion on this many times. Perhaps the mgmt. is listening to me (us) on this. Or perhaps the ratings have been so bad that they finally decided to mix it up.

They just said Julian was at Purdue for a football game this weekend so maybe he is coming back. This could still be a try-out for Mark. I hope they keep him.

It seemed from their comments that they were welcoming his as a new Fox employee.

Now when are they going to get rid of the other two? That show is unwatchable at times. Many times. It's a shame because I want to get an update in the morning on the weekends. I can't stand that Juliet. She has a mean streak when she doesn't like someone or something.

The need to just clone Brit and Cavuto and alternate them every other hour.

This is a situation in which viewer emails can make an important difference. I'd encourage people who want to see Mark McEwan become a permanent replacement for Julian Phillips to email Fox & Friends at:

I just sent this out to Fox, a little crude, but to the point

-------------------------------------------------

I heard on a message board [FreeRepublic] that you finally
got rid of Julian Phillips, if that is true, I'll again
watch Week-End Mornings Fox and Friends.

J. Phillips is the reason I turned off Weekend morning Fox.

McEwen is a welcome addition if this is true....

I have been a Fox supporter for many years, but when you
have a distasteful reporter, Ill not watch.

HA HA HA, after 30 years of swatting the ball around
I've not been able to shake that old problem.

I hope it's not contagious........

I'm taking the liberty of pinging this to my Today Show ping list because it relates to the morning talk show scene.

If you have a chance, please tune into Fox & Friends this morning. If you find you prefer newly-arrived Mark McEwan as a co-host over Julian Phillips, you might want to let Fox & Friends know:

If McEwan is coming on as host, they don't need that other guy either. Mark can handle this by himself. Now, to find a new co-hostess for those who want one. I'm sure Freepers have suggestions. lol.
