Missouri Gov. Bob Holden said Monday that he'll ban all concealed weapons in buildings owned or operated by the state. Holden vetoed legislation that would have allowed concealed weapons in Missouri, but the Missouri General Assembly overrode his veto in September. The concealed weapons law goes into effect Saturday. Weapons are banned in state buildings, but the new law would have allowed them. Holden said he would declare emergency administrative rules prohibiting concealed weapons on property owned or operated by the state, as well as state buildings and those leased by the state. The ban doesn't apply to law enforcement officials. "State buildings are clearly no place for hidden handguns, just as I continue to believe that Little League Baseball parks and child-care facilities should be gun-free," Holden said in a written statement Monday. "This ban will help protect state employees and Missouri citizens conducting business at state facilities."

The defenseless are in the state parks. And the state offices.
Good hunting.
Who cares what you believe twerp. The people (through the legislature) are speaking quite loudly on this.
I don't know when his term is up, but if it's not this year or next, then the B@stard should be impeached or recalled whichever fits with the state Constitution.
If the law says those with permits are allowed to carry in state buildings, then the governor has no business ruling by fiat.
Here in Texas, the law only allowed building owners or leaseholders, to ban concealed carry. Well, a bunch of governmental officials, from the state DPS on down to city mayors, city councils and various local PooBahs, decided *they* and not the people, were the owners of the various government buildings. Pretty much the only place you ever saw the required ban signs (and they are huge!) was at governmental offices. The people, acting through the the Leg (themselves worrying about that "rooftop vote" and the fate of former governor Queen Anne Richards) passed a law "clarifying" what was already in the law via a state "premption" clause. The signs came down, even from state DPS offices, on 1 September. There still are a few places where carry is not allowed, but the Leg made it clear that they and they alone had authority over such matters.
Lukily the way the law is written you can carry in there anyway. All they can do is ask you to leave, should the somehow determine your carrying a concealed firearm. And if you do immediately leave then they can't do anything, if you don't for the first offense the most that can happen is a fine. Please let me know if my reading of the law is wrong, don't want anyone getting into trouble.
Kind of sucks if you work there though. They could probably tell you to leave and then fire you for leaving maybe? If you don't work for the state then you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
Holden's got more bark then he's got bite.
