Illegal Immigrant Pandering Fails in California

One of the greatest lies in American politics today is the idea that pandering to the illegal immigrant agenda, a group of Hispanic advocacy groups and socialist foundations, will get you the Hispanic vote and get you elected. Both Davis and Bustamante had pandered to the illegal immigrant agenda. Davis had signed into law the illegal driver’s license law (SB60) that allowed anyone from around the world to walk into the DMV and get a drivers license. Davis also lead the effort to stop Prop 187, a law that would have stopped handing out state tax money to illegal immigrants, an effort that has cost California billions. Davis also does nothing to the businesses that hire and exploit these illegals. Nor does he do anything about the lawless border with Mexico.

Bustamante supports all of these actions and goes even further. During his college days, Bustamante was a member of a group called MECHA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan). MECHA’s main goal is to “reconqueor” the SW part of the US and remove from it all non-Hispanics. With it’s motto “For those in the race everything, for those outside the race, nothing", MECHA is as anti-US as the Southern Confederacy and as racist as the Klan. Bustamante defended his group by claiming they just did car washes and provide scholarships for Hispanics, never denouncing the motto or main goal. I’m sure that many illegal immigrant supporters were impressed by these actions and supported both Davis and Bustamonte, so what went wrong? The answer is everything else.

The plan to dominate the Hispanic vote failed on both counts. Hispanics voted 46% to recall Davis and 54% to keep him in office. Bustamante got 52% of the Hispanic vote. Both of these are majorities, but nowhere near the majority that even most Democrats usually get in elections. In addition, Hispanics turnout was only 17% for recall and 18% for a new Governor, not much of a chance to win even if they do dominate.

As for Republicans, the lesson is if don’t pander to the illegal immigrant agenda, you win. Already Republicans are gaining in the Hispanic vote. Bush won 35% of the vote in 2000 and Republicans won an average of 39% in 2002 w/out any amnesties are major pandering. Again not a majority, but in both elections, they still won. Arnold getting 31% is amazing considering the odds. Another Hispanic and illegal immigrant supporter Peter Camejo, only got 5% of the hispanic vote. Illegal immigration's biggest major opponent in the CA recall race, Tom McClintock had 9%. 72.3 of the entire Mexican-American population lives in two states: California and Texas. If the trend continues, Texas will vote Republican in 2004; California could be next, with no pandering needed.

As the recall shows, giving in to the demands of the illegal immigrant agenda gains little and cost much more in terms of votes. Those who benefit from illegal immigration are corrupt businesses; corrupt leaders of Hispanic countries, drug smugglers, and terrorist. Those who suffer are the American taxpayers, the immigrants who have to leave the continued corruption of their homelands to get a decent living, and for now, the American Politician.

Thanks Budge.

Spent some time near Little Rock with some friends of mine back in the late 60's. Darned if I can't remember the name of thaat town, It used to have a "Singer Plant", a little one-light place, most folks were pretty tight...thought I'd never forget those times...well the mind can get old.

I'm in Odessa, Texas. Was out in Maui not long ago, boy, I've never been so happy to see the brown grass of Texas, as when we flew above MAF!

I keep calling my wife "Dorothy" (which makes me that little dog of hers, To To or something..I guess.)

Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you..dont let a few days go by bother you none.
