Contacting the Free Republic leadership

Posted on 10/08/2003 10:47:53 PM PDT by StephenDewey

My name is Stephen Dewey, and I am a reporter for the Harvard Political Review. I'm doing an article on online conservative activism, and I'd like to exchange emails or phone calls with somebody from the Free Republic leadership about your organization. If anybody were to point me in the right direction, it would be very much appreciated. My email address is sdewey AT fas.harvard.edu (spelled that way to avoid spam!). Thanks!

"I can't believe you gave that secret away so casually!"

What was I thinking (hanging head in shame). I am up past my bedtime on a work night and had a couple of margaritas besides. Lost my head.

"I was thinking more of someone who pokes people with sharp, pointy sticks."

Yeah, that was more the image I had too.....while giggling.

Lets hook this guy up...Anyone have an archive of the massive Free Republic "Rally for America" rallies we held before/during the Iraq war? FR was a major organizer of it, and I think we topped 10,000+ people on several occasions. I saw some excellent pictures of the rallies but didn't save them. Anyone know how to search the archives for the pics?

Bill Clinton murdered Vince Foster, raped Juantia Broaderick, torched the children of Waco, and dealt cocaine via the Mena airport.

Please try to be more accurate. Bill Clinton HAD Vince Foster murdered.

"We'll find out all about you during the secret Free Republic initiation ceremony. You do have health insurance, don't you?"

Oh, that's really cold....and I didn't mean the shower.

Ping nully....secret FR initiation thread.

"......the Freepers, a fierce, warlike tribe from the Free Republic organization--a fire-breathing conservative band of Internet brothers who often call each other by their screen names, even in person."

That's a classic already....but it should say brothers and sisters. We conservative ladies are a force to be reckoned with around here (or "out there" as the case may be) as well.

Stephen, I'm not sure what angle you are looking to take, but one you might consider taking is who the Robinsons are and all they have accomplished with Free Republic.

There are thousands upon thousands of forums on the internet, political and otherwise. FR is the best-constructed forum I have ever seen. If you spend some time here, you will see what I mean. The Robinsons have created an intelligent, flexible format, and simultaneously created an atmosphere that encourages conservative discussion and activism.

Doing that is no small thing. It has had an impact on the nation's politics. It has become a gathering place.

We are not all of one view. Some of us (like me) lean toward the libertarian side; others are more traditionally conservative. This is prominent in discussions about the "war on drugs", but also in other threads. We argue amongst ourselves as much as we argue with liberals.

That *is* the point. The Robinsons have created a viable forum where this can be done.

I'll second that thought. The two sites I spend any time at both have a threaded message database, and FR is much the superior of the two. And both are superior to all the UBB (BLEECH!) forums out there.

The power of this forum format is part of what has brought conservatives together in an effective manner for information sharing and activism.

Thanks for posting and welcome to FreeRepublic.

I am not leadership by any means here at FR, but I would be happy to exchange some emails with you regarding conservative activism.

You have email in that regard and I hope you enjoy FreeRepublic and learn a lot about how everyday individuals can become involved on behalf of their country and their freedoms.

Best regards.

"We're all just a bunch of redneck right-wing hicks...don't get to meet folks from Hah-vard much in these parts... ;-)"

A Harvard student and NC State student are at the urnials in the bathroom at a round 1 of the NCAA championship. The NC student finishes, zips and starts to walk out. The Harvard student says "Sir, at Harvard they teach us to wash our hands after going to the bathroom". The NC student replies, "Well, sir, at State they teach us not to piss on our hand."
