10 year ex-military speaking here. They violated orders, they acted rather stupid, but... this stuff happens. As to the motives of these girls, I am not saying that the U.S. owes them a visa or anything. That is a risk that they took to marry across international lines, these GI's may have to spend their remaining money travelling to/from IRAQ during leave. Otherwise, they are now married and should have the right to see their wives when the mission is COMPLETED. As far as the conversion to islam thing, I know people that have converted to Catholisism (sp) and Judism (sp)just to satisfy their new brides. This is probably no different. They are just dumb and lonely

I am not a Muslim. But if you want to take up Islam, this is fine with me. If you want to take up Christianity, I have no problem with this either. It makes no difference to me which one you choose. I'm with you on all this, man. But iSLAM is not! When they get the power to do it, you will either convert or die. Your little girl will have her clitoris cut off and your wife and mother will wear a burka or be publicly executed. Read the Koran. I did. It is a real eye opener.

Ya Know Kansas, You're so right. I can say from my own experience in Somalia, where I met an Irish relief agency nurse, that the absolutely crushing lonliness makes "love" out of what should be only a fling.

The greatest woman in the world just so happens to be the one woman you get to meet, in a land where there's 25,000 male troops, and all the testosterone that goes with that. Just hearing a womans voice, in some places, can bring a sense of normalcy to an otherwise difficult situation.

When we tried to carry the relationship out of Somalia, it took less than a year to fall completely apart.(We didn't get married, but were engaged) We had nothing at all in common. I guess I still love her for being thier "at the time", but she was only for that time, and that situation. I hope she's done well for herself. I learned a valuable lesson about the heart fooling the mind.

I feel for these guys. Unfortunately, they have gone way overboard to meet thier emotional needs. I doubt it will last, romance novels almost always come to an end.

You speak for Islam do you? I've been the guest of Muslims several times in their home countries. Never had the first trouble with them.

As for this other stuff, keep your wild imaginings confined to what might happen to your family. I don't sit here and post all the ugly things that I can think up in connection with your family do I?

It's like I told you- if you want to practice a religion, I don't have a problem with that. Don't try to force your worldview on me though or you're not acting too much different than those fanatical Muslims you detest so much. Right now, I'm not seeing a lot of difference. Fanatical is fanatical. Maybe you've read the Koran one too many times?
