Some Dems see lesson in the recall

"Democrats also need to tend to their own garden and take very seriously the decision of California voters -- who still decisively tilt Democratic in party identification and overall policy views -- to support what began as a nutty right-wing crusade and ended as a popular movement. They need to regain their centrist, problem-solving reputation, and must absolutely reverse the recent perception that they don't give a damn about anybody who doesn't belong to a reliable Democratic constituency group. California voters can help both parties move away from the current polarization by approving a ballot initiative next year that would bring back an open primary system -- re-enfranchising moderate and independent voters, and re-engaging today's isolated parties in a competition to win elections through new ideas and successful governance."

They need to regain their centrist, problem-solving reputation

These so called "centrists" have "solved" problems this year by passing legislation which:

- Gives illegal aliens driver's licenses
- Makes it illegal for an employer to discriminate against cross-dressing employees
- Requires all foster parents to attend training to learn how to encourage the foster child to explore their homosexual feelings
- Requires all small businesses with 50 or more employers to pay for health insurance for their employees

A real "centrist" reputation, eh?

- Gives illegal aliens driver's licenses

Right in step with "centrist" President Bush who wants to grant amnesty to these very same illegal aliens...

As long as Dems don't learn the real leason here about to much taxation and over-regulation we have nothing to worry about. But hey, if they want to campaign on repealing Bush's tax cut, what can we do.

Why don't we start making sure that "repealing Bush's tax cut" = "tax increase/hike"?

What percentage of the elected Rat officials in California are members of the DLC (which, by Rat standards anyway, is centrist)? I'll bet it's a lower percentage than in any other state. The Dems running California are the meanest, most far-left nuts I've ever seen. It's like Planet of the Deans. They're not going to listen to anything the DNC has to say.

Bleah, stupid typo. "They're not going to listen to anything the DNC has to say" should read "They're not going to listen to anything the DLC has to say."

The more rational dems will see what's happening. The more extreme ones are hopelessly in denial.

Over at DU, there was a widespread consensus that the exit polls were faked, the election was rigged, Nazis are taking over the USA and started with California, somehow democracy was subjugated (which is amazing when you consider more Californians voted in the recall than in the last 20 years in cali), etc. etc. Some were considering for the first time arming themselves, since they feel some kind of physical danger that didn't exist on Monday.

Evidently this phenomenon only occurs when dems lose.

Denial isn't a river in Egypt. The more extreme types can't or won't understand it when they lose. The same can be said with our side too, sometimes.

It is important to be clear minded always so you can react swiftly with a wise course of action. That's what I always say!

"what can we do"

Well, we could pass more tax cuts. That should get their "progressive" panties in a knot.

"...win elections through new ideas and successful governance."

Their new ideas were the usual last minute smear campaign - since they don't have nor desire any "new" ideas. Just the same old socialist ones they've always professed. And their successful governance - well, their governance is what got Davis recalled and replaced with a republican.

Basically what I see in this letter is an exhortation to use negative adjectives when describing the opponent, while quietly telling the dim's themselves to quit doing what they accuse their opponents of, i.e. being "nutty".

must absolutely reverse the recent perception that they don't give a damn about anybody who doesn't belong to a reliable Democratic constituency group

So their strategy is to lie some more.

Their definition of centrist is driving down the highway of life, 50 feet far left of the left side of the road.

This arrogance will continue to destroy them in upcoming elections as the moderates with a brain wake up and move over to our side to vote.
