The Passion of the Christ
The Most Amazing Love Story of all Time
A Review from a Biomedical Engineering Perspective
by Alex F. Metherell, MD, PhD

Mel Gibson’s movie The Passion of the Christ has generated more controversy in the media than any movie in recent memory. One of the main criticisms has been that the violence the movie depicts is excessive. The fact is that neither the flogging nor the crucifixion as shown was as bad or as violent as the actual event – as I will explain later.

I agree with you. What did David the psalmist say? Something like we live in a shadow world. Yeah the real torture for Jesus was in the Spiritual realm, when the Father turned his face from Him. This would be impossible to depict in the movie. I do believe that this movie was definitely done by God. Mel was an instrument..

Actually the burial scene in the movie does show Joseph of Arimathea. Or at least I think it was Joseph. When Jesus is being taken down from the cross, a Jewish priest in his robes is visible on the left side of the screen. Because he was not emphasized, it is easiy to miss him as the scene is only a few seconds in length, and the viewers' eyes are drawn to the body of Jesus and the sorrowful Mother Mary.
