Doesn't the Bible speak of "the sin against the Holy Spirit" which can not be remitted?
SD

Is that a "can not", or a "will not" statement, SD?

Doesn't the Bible speak of "the sin against the Holy Spirit" which can not be remitted? No, it speaks of "the sin against the Holy Spirit" which will not be remitted. Big difference.

Murder also is viewed as an unforgivable sin. I would substitute "insufficient" with "not intended for" the redemption of those who shed innocent blood....

Very few of any of us here on Earth have sufficient knowledge to be capable of committing "the sin against the Holy Spirit".....

True, some people deny His existence and/or curse His existence to such an extent and duration that He leaves them to their own consequences eternally.
If one persistently demonstrates a free will determination to be totally against and free of Holy Spirit's influence, what is Holy Spirit to do consistent with free will?
If Holy Spirit is not bothering to convict one of sin any further, what hope would one have?

But my readings and associations have left me convinced that the Holy Spirit blaspheming unforgivable sin is not what this Mormon doctrine has been routinely used for.
Rather, it's been talked about and used more as a CONTROL MECHANISM.
Most cults are heavily into control.
This is just an extreme example.
