In addition to the African announcements that ahadams2 linked to above, apparently they're expecting Lord Cary to make "significant" announcements at the aforementioned Anglican Communion Institute conference this week. I don't know what they will be -- my rector stated only that they'd be "significant." We shall see...

Lord Carey, the 103rd ABC -- the very man.
FWIW, he has a beautiful, rich, deep voice and a very pleasing accent. When he gets on a roll in the pulpit, he's very animated, and quite obviously a very smart fellow. The words just start tumbling out, and the theological content is really impeccable.
It was interesting to compare and contrast Lord Carey to the new Bishop of Colorado, who visited us last weekend. Their sermon styles are actually somewhat similar -- they both used rhetorical questions leading up to a declarative statement, and they used quotes extensively.
However, that's where the similarity ended. Unlike Lord Carey, our bishop was boooorrrrrinnggg (he spent the first 5 minutes!!! of his sermon talking about how Bill Buckner lost the Series for Boston Red Sox), and he kept repeating things.
In the car, on the way to attend last night's service, my kids were imitating our bishop's style with deadly accuracy -- they zeroed in on the very silliest parts of his sermon and took it to the next level (LOL!!!!). If 3rd and 6th grade kids can make that much fun of a guy, he's going to have problems gaining peoples' respect....

It will be the worst thing that has happened to the Church since John Kennedy was elected President.
