Rewarded by whom, by the Archbishop?

Probably the bishop himself. Contrary to the media protrayals and hate/gossip-mongering in the churches against him, he's a very modest guy. He makes his point, lets the priest rail against it but at the end of the day, the pews are full, so he figures the priest must be doing something right. I dont think he realizes how bad the priest opposes him, or that these people in the pews are in a cult of personality. By railing against the heirarchy, the priest makes a God of himself. Remove that God, and the faith of his congregants will be based on nothing. Perhaps he's hoping that other oriests and Catholics help that faith extend beyond the pastor and onto Church.

People do some strange stuff. I have a boss who let's an employee hose coworkers over because he can meet deadlines by turning out shoddy work quickly.

Who knows what this Bishop is thinking? If I had a subordinate acting like that, I'd hammer him.

What diocese are you in? You probably have your B/bishop figuresd out pretty well. Many of the weaker
B/bishops have taken that route,it doesn't help but it explains some of the apparent crazinesses.
