I'm one of those conservatives within the UMC.
All I can offer is that we have gradually moved the very liberal UMC to a more conservative position. This year we did even better.
Our current official, written position could best be described as "rape, incest, life of mother" (which is a vast improvement.)
As always, the liberals will violate our written church law with impunity. There's much more to do in terms of tightening up funding, and we will succeed to the glory of God.

Good for you. No offense meant. I can't imagine how patient a person must be to be involved in something like that.
Do you know if there has ever been a denomination scuttled by liberalism (or any other error) which has been reclaimed by Christ?
If you have children, are you concerned about the influence of the liberal teacher, ministers, literature etc. on them (although your local church may be conservitive)?
I too am a conservative in a very conservative UMC. I am working with the finance chairman on a proposal to the administrative board on our apporaments. I am very much apposed to our support of some of the organizations listed in the apportments and would like to withold support. this is a starting place and all churches need to become involved in this process. I know it will be a struggle, as our church has always paid 100% of apportaments but i really have issue with one for sure. Do you have any thoughts? Thanks
