"This is the conclusion of a contributor to a new book to be published in August, who also suggests that only around 5% of the film is based on the gospel accounts of Jesus' death. "
5 percent? John Dominic Crossan has alwasys been a bit loony and is getting more senile every day. Anyone who can read can see the Passion of Chirst followed the bulk of the Gospel narrative's passion account despite any similarities to other versions (or visions). Of course, there were points that diverged, whether from old non-Gospel sources or simply artistic license. Gibson did not slavishly adhere to the Gospels. This has been true of every film. You can't make a movie strictly from the Gospels. You have to fill in some blanks. Claiming only 5 percent is absurd, though. This really sounds like just an excuse for yet another book promoting his own revisionist visions.

I'd was hoping that they were through with attacking this film, but no they found something else. Hopefully no one will care what these loonies think and they will continue being ignored.

Neither did Thomas Jefferson resurrection - nor did Jefferson believe in the virgin birth or the divinity of Christ.

And you point is, what?
What the heck does Thomas Jefferson have to do with theology or these lame attacks on The Passion of the Christ?
That's almost "bunny with a pancake on its head"-worthy.

Neither did Thomas Jefferson resurrection - nor did Jefferson believe in the virgin birth or the divinity of Christ. I didn't realize that Thomas Jefferson commented on the film....

Gee, I have all of the books about St. Emmerich. They are not contrary to the Gospel accounts.
Great books, I recommend them to everybody.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... parts of it were "under-done". Like this one:
Isaiah 52 14 Just as there were many who were appalled at him- his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness-
Crossnan must be reading the "Good as New" Bible Bile. They still don't get it.

Well, Joseph Stalin renounced his early Christian upbringing and changed his name.
So Stalin trumps Jefferson.

I was asked why I posted this as if this kind of thinking is not part of being a conservative or a free thinker. I am also amused to think that so many are seemingly so weak of faith they can's stomach talk of this. Lastly, the discussion is in reality about a movie - nothing more or less important than a movie you eat popcorn to.

What kind of Mennonites would get involved with these people?
To: Pyro7480
They are probably using the "international" method of dating - calendar day, month, year. So it would be 9 July 2004, which was this past day. LOL! Of course, that didn't occur to me, but should have!
