Bishop Skylstad was elected with 52% to be chair of the USCCB. Cardinal George finished second.
Good plan 8-)
thanks for that article. very interesting (and disturbing)
Where did you find this little tidbit?
All things work together for good for those who love God."
I agree. I also wish I could share in some of your bucolic euphora right now. My one and ONLY consolation is that the conference includes bisops from the Eastern Rites. On the rerun from opening night, Bishop Gregory called forth ALL the new bishops and began introducing them .... The Most Reverend Blah Blah, The Most Reverend This That, etc. He introduced a new Bishop from the Melkite Catholic Church. Watching, it was obvious that the number of names called out did not match the number of bodies standing behind him. So, he asked those whose names had not been called to step forward. One by one, they took a 'giant' step forward, Bishop Gregory called out their name, they stepped back, and so forth. The last one to step forward is my bishop - Bishop Gregory John Mansour, from St. Maron's in the Eparchy of Brooklyn. He then announced that a separate meeting of the Eastern Bishops would be held in such and such room on such and such day at a specified time.
As Sandyeggo and I can both attest, there is little in the USCCB Bishop's Conference Agenda that even remotely ties in with the Eastern Catholic rites. It is such a consolation to know that we have been spared from many of these innovations. At times, I pinch myself as a reminder that the liturgy we celebrate each week is fixed and unchangeable, steeped in reverence for the Holy Eucharist, and now been given the papal blessing to rediscover its ancient roots. Thank you, Lord, for this blessing in our lives!
The bishops have hit an all time low. What a bunch of old
queens! The commentators mentioned the communion song for
the Mass the bishops concelebrated. It apparently was a
secular song. Can anyone find out or let us know what that
communion song was? I hesitate to call it communion HYMN.
"Give me some of that old time religion." The Bishops themselves were apparently surprised. Though given Trautmann's liturgical leanings, he was probably gleeful.
Really Ny'er if you have been reading your own posts since you found the Maronite Rite you seem to have found that "place",yourself. I thought you had been transported by the "Divine Liturgy". Granted I did use some scripture to reassure myself and others that with God all things are possible but I would hardly call my mood serene or peaceful.
On the other hand,I do think we are getting closer and closer to a total cleansing of the Church here. It is a matter of time and a race with time,as well. We just have to keep pursuing and speaking truth and pray, pray, pray.
Regards the tidbit about the K (Kinney) who nominated the Trautperson from the floor,my friend was able to see it on the telecast of the conference.
I have a sense that he is not conservative except when it comes to protecting priest misdeeds...then he can certainly hide well behind the Church.....
my other conern.....we had a jubilee here a few years ago...it was a very dignified event with many priests and Bishops and nuns attending.....
it was a High Mass ....
lo and behold....after a two hour Mass who do they drag out before the final blessing...the final blessing being when the Mass is over....they have our very liberal abortion promoting Governor speak, with a captive audience..
this governor couldn't even forbide partial birth abortion....he stands for everything the Catholic church should be against....of course the election was just a few weeks away.....
I found that to be very telling.... not that I promote forcing women to have babies...I don't.....I just think we would have much less abortion if our leaders for the past 40 yrs had been clearly against it....not just mamby-pamby against it..
