He has been in the headlines a lot lately.
So now the guy who bankrupted his own diocese will be leading the entire USCCB. Very appropriate.
Don't forget, this meeting they are also supposed to approve a first-ever U.S. national catechism for adults. Should be another real winner.
Strap in everyone - we're going down.
I am assuming when you say bankrupt you mean spiritually and financially. The whole USCCB has been spiritually bankrupt for years.

Bankrupting the USCCB would be a very good step. We can hope, maybe he is the right guy for the job. ;-)
As always, thanks for the ping. :o)
Not a good choice, in my opinion. What kind of a message does this send? That leadership should be with a prelate who was rather soft on misdemeaning priests in the past, but who is willing to play clever tricks like bankruptcy in order to try and skirt the issue? I don't know how Bishop Skylstad is in terms of orthodoxy of doctrine, but even his past and the bankruptcy make this a very strange message. The message that the USCCB should send is to choose someone of rock solid orthodoxy, and who is known to take a hard line on priests committing sexual indiscretions and crimes. I think Cardinal George would have been a good choice.
The Good Bishop is one of the last of Hunthausen's boys left. We need another Cardinal Hickey to be sent by Rome to CLEAN HOUSE.
Thanks for the ping Max.
I truly do believe the whole Hierarchy of the Catholic Church is in Moral Bankruptcy and only the High Court of Heaven can appoint a real Leader to get them out of it.
The USCCB is a bunch of moral midgets who can't tell right from wrong. and their thought processes are blinded with Hubris.
Father Scahill of East Longmeadow MA. got it just right but they will make him suffer for his courage.
