Yes we cling to Christ..but He founded only ONe Church ,the Roman Cathoilc church ,if you want to know the whole truth. He gave the keys to His Kingdom to His apostle ,St. Peter(says so in the Bible) made him the FIRST POPE . so it follows that with the rosary we meditate on the mysteries of His Faith the Life, death and Ressurrection of Christ..in union with the cooperation and roll filled by Mary, the Woman, He Made and chose to be His Mother..the rosary helps all who say it to come to the knowldge that all the Gospels on this are REMEMBERED, as it is said. So do not sway from the subject at hand that it is the rosary, that will help us cling to Christ..not lead us away.Mary will help each one who prays the rosary...to follow the road that gets to Heaven.

Our Lady of the Rosary. The Holy Rosary is a lovely instrument of prayer. By it we direct our minds and our hearts to God as we move our mouths and our fingers while we pray. The rosary was given personally to Saint Dominic by Our Blessed Lady in the year 1214, in Toulouse, in France. Saint Dominic was the first great apostle of the Holy Rosary. Saint Dominic died in 1221, at the age of fifty-one. The last great apostle of the Holy Rosary was Saint Louis Marie de Montfort, who died in 1716 at the age of forty-three. The great Pope who promoted the cult of the Holy Rosary was Saint Pius V, who died in 1572. In the year 1571 he set up the feast of the Most Holy Rosary on October 7. The Catholics won a great naval victory that day over the Turks at Lepanto, who were trying to crush them and blot out their Faith. Their protection was the Holy Rosary.

Another great victory of the Catholics over the Turks because of the Holy Rosary was in 1716, in Hungary, the year Saint Louis Marie died. Pope Gregory XIII, in 1573, Pope Clement XI, in 1716, and Pope Leo XIII, in 1888, all did much to make the feast of the Most Holy Rosary on October 7 more and more observed reverenced in the liturgy of the Church. The rosary is not only a prayer, it is a weapon. The little beads of love that are strung on the rosary are bullets of destruction against the enemies of the Catholic Faith and the enemies of one's salvation. In a simple chaplet, five decades of the rosary, the Holy Name of Jesus is invoked fifty-four times, and the Holy Name of Mary, one hundred and seven times. No Catholic should ever be without the rosary in his possession, night or day. The devil is afraid of these beads as they lie in our pockets or are held in our hands.

The Rosary, to me, is a help that brings me closer to Christ. At least for me, she helps me get closer to the mysteries of the Lord's Gospel.

Mary is honored because she, more than anyone, did the will of the Father in Heaven. Hence Jesus' saying that his mother, brothers, sisters, etc. are those that do the will of His Father in Heaven. When the woman said to Jesus "blessed is the womb that bore you", and He replied that even more blessed are those that hear the Word of God and do it, certainly Mary was the prime example of a person who heard the Word of God and acted on it; she did so better than anyone.

Christ is all in all. He also gave us His Mother Mary to be our mother. The Church is a family. Every family, to be complete, needs a mother. There is no better mother than Mary. She helps us pray, she helps us draw closer to Christ. Every honor, blessing, postion, office, etc., that she has is 10000% purely and only by the Power and Grace of Jesus Himself. She'd be the first to tell us this. She points to Christ and says to all of us "do whatever he tells you."

Bumpus Maximus to the Rosary....

Denigrating the Mother of Jesus and those who adore her can hardly please Jesus.

The Rosary..each mystery..the Our Father...all biblical..its just from the sections of the Bible the some don't like.

We need to remember that Mary said, "Fiat" when the angel approached her. She was not just a pod for Jesus.

Ultimately..I see Mary as the first Christian..she was the first human to know that Jesus was the Christ, she said "Fiat" and in his first miracle she says of Jesus, "Do whatever he tells you." Good advice Mama Mary, I'll take you up on it.

I once listened to a Jewish convert to the Catholic faith relay a beautiful comparison of Mary to the Ark of the Covenant. Not to go into too much detail, but she just went on about how the Ark was revered and only certain people could go near it, there was always great ceremony associated with it; it was made of gold and designed in such a way that every inch of it was measured meticulously. This ark "just" had the commandments, and how much more should Mary, who carried the creator of the universe for nine months, be honored (not worshipped, but honored)all the more.

Also another point, Jesus' FIRST miracle was a result of the intervention of Mary, what does that tell ya. God did that for a reason.

Beautiful! Reminds me of another analogy of Our Lady when folks speak of the works of St. Augustine, particularly his "City of God" which was named in honor Our Lady! Appropriate no?

Yes, the wine at Cana...this is the model for Mary's intercession....so Biblical...so Marian.

Also...

St John 19:26-27 When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son. After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own.

The disciple was there and clearly understood what Jesus commands.

Sorry, I meant intercession not intervention. (I hate it when I do that) :)

It means that with all the world praying the rosary, wrongs and evils would be stopped . Jesus gave His Mother permission no doubt to promote the rosary. He was with her when she first gave it to St . Dominic.

That road is Jesus Christ and will always be. I disagree with you on the meaning of the one true church. The One true Church is simple. Those who know Christ, are the One true Church.

"It means that with all the world praying the rosary, wrongs and evils would be stopped ."

And that assumption would be wrong my friend.

Praying merely gives us spiritual armor to repel Satan's advances. And then do so in Jesus' name as he beseeches us in the Bible.

Additionally, sin can NOT be "stopped" until the Saviour's return.

" Jesus gave His Mother permission no doubt to promote the rosary."

Again, "assuming" leads to deception.

Read the word of God in the Scriptures and defer ONLY to the authority vested in IT.

Go back on the web and look for the statements on "No salvation outside the catholic church".on free republic.
Did the Apostles of Christ make the Apostles Creed for nothing? That is the prayer said first on the rosary, made by them not some whatever person..the end of it goes. ..I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY GHOST, THE HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH, THE COMMUNION OF SAINTS< THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.....and life everlasting AMEN.
It is called the Apostles Creed, Christ's own Apostles made that prayer, just as Jeus made the Our Father Prayer, and the Hail Marys come frthm the Archangel Gabriel and St. Elizabeth, her cousin...Christ Said ,"Thou art Peter, and upon this Rock, I will build MY CHURCH....." No other Church has a Pope, Peter was made the First Head of Christ's Church. surprising ...says so in the Bible!

Right and I will add this from a beautiful ,little booklet, called "GARLAND OF ROSES"; and I quote:
" THE ROSARY SOLVES ALL PROBLEMS( if you say it)
In 1957, Sr. Lucy of Fatima told to Fr. Fuentes; The Most Holy Virgin, in these last times in which we live(till even now)that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, temporal ,especially spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families, of the famlies of the world or of religious communities or even of the life of people and nations that cannot be solved by THE ROSARY!" thats alll there is to it .

I read through all the posts in this very interesting thread, and I did not see anyone "denigrating" the Mother of Jesus and those who adore her. Please try to be accurate. I see sincere Christians articulating their understanding of the Word of God and their heart's knowledge of Christ.

The Rosary is not for every Christian. For those of us not brought up with it, it would be an awkward pretense.

The "one holy catholic and apostolic church" has been twisted out of its original meaning. It is small c catholic and means the body of Christ. We are all of the body of Christ and are all apostles.

Anyway, let's stick together. As we see Christianity decline and islam rise in Europe, we need to be united, walking in love and humility.

The Armenian Orthodox Church precedes the Roman Catholic.
