"The deleted prayers are the same ones removed by Luther and Cranmer. "The abomination called the offertory," remarked Luther, "and from this point on almost everything stinks of oblation."

Absolutely fascinating....I think there will be years and years worth of scholarly work on the comparison between the Trdientine Mass and the Novus Ordo Mess...the two are SO different.

Thanks! Don't forget about the table of contents. ;-)

I did forget, until you reminded me!

"The altar is covered with three linen cloths (7) with the top cloth hanging to the floor, absorbing or catching any of the species which may fall or spill. These cloths also bring to mind the cloth that was used to wrap our Lord's body in his tomb."

I once heard a theory that the Shroud may have been the table cloth used at the Last Supper.

"I once heard a theory that the Shroud may have been the table cloth used at the Last Supper."

According to Anne Catherine Emmerich several of the women went back to the Inn in order to get cloths to wipe up the Blood shed by Our Lord. It is a Jewish custom, still done today after terrorist attacks to wipe up the blood of the Jewish victims.

There is also a story that Claudia, the wife of Pontious Pilate supplied the cloths.

I was told the Shroud has drops of wine on it, making it plausible it was used at the Last Supper and supporting the Jewish custom where hosts fed their guests the first bite of food and drink.

Holy Communion on the tongue anyone?

Thanks for the post. I have a 1962 and 1963 St. Joseph missal which has allm the information for Sundays and Holy Days of obligation Masses. They are essentially the same with the exception of some differant pictures and non-Mass prayers on differany pages. I will look into the reprinted daily Missal though.
