The prayer hasn't been pulled. They just omitted references to the "Spirits" of the North, South, East, West, and Earth.

The devil is deceptive.

Yep, it's still pretty much a feely-goodie naturists type prayer, not obvious pagan, but where do they get off on all this oneness stuff?

I would have offered them something like this:

O Lord,
so heavy is the grief
in this dark world,
grief from hands raised in anger,
grief from words meant to cut,
grief from saying no when we should say yes,
grief from saying yes when we should say no,
grief from hubris,
lust,
anger,
greed,
pride.

O Lord,
how heavy the mantle of sins
you bore on your shoulders,
too heavy for any mortal man,
all the grief,
all the pain
all the darkness
to give us a way
to your light
to your hope
to your peace.

Forgive us, Lord,
for our ingratitude,
of how we choose to wallow
in our grief
instead of taking your outstretched hand,
of how we choose pain
intead of your healing touch,
of how we choose the darkness
instead of your light.

Soften our hearts, Lord,
until we see that what you offer
is really
the way, the truth and the life,
and taking your outstretched hand,
we let you pull us up
out of the darkness
let you heal our sin-sick souls,
bind our wounds,
and bring us into your peace.

Amen.

This really galls my butt.
These evil bastards change the words just enough to try to sneak under the radar. It is still pagan.
Why don't they just admit they are not Catholic or even Christian and press on?
I am disgusted with our bishops for allowing this tripe.
Every bishop in the U.S. should have his teeth firmly dug into Levada's butt cheek like a hungry pit bull.
Are our bishops dumb as a post, evil or just plain cowardly?
Strong message to follow after I have slept on this.

Boy that was a pretty snippy response. Where's all that pastoral sensitivity they are supposed to have? Where's the civilization of love? I did not sense "our oneness" in this response. ;-)

At least this thread catches them in the act. In advance, no less.

You make a very important point: complacency breeds acceptablility of the previously unacceptable.

Refer back to the frog in the slowly, ever heating pot....who does not realize that he will sortly boil to death.

"And sadly it is often the people in authority, the 'ministers' of things who go out of their way to make non-conformists feel out of place. And the more out of line the changes, the worse the behavior."

This should be a very clear signal that the Gramsciian "process" is proceeding quite well! It begins with hierarchial facilitators......and proceeds toward not the mere docile acceptance of the flock, but of forced accepted...........enforced by the lay leaders themselves.

The "process" has worked all too well!

Acting like roaches when a light goes on, they've cleverly edited the web page - although what's left is still a bunch of gook. Such only goes to show that phoney manipulators will abuse the faith to whatever degree they think they can get away with.

The orginal text is also preserved on angelqueen if anyone should need to refer to it.

Is this program you refer to the same as the "Christ Renews His Parish" program? My parish has been running these retreats for women for about a year now....the DRE and several other women from the parish are the "facilitators". Any info you can give me?
