The American Civil Liberties Union was founded in 1920 by Elizabeth Flynn, William Foster, Louis Budenz and Roger N. Baldwin - all loyal and faithful members of the Communist Party. When Baldwin dies, he was hailed as a "lifelong champion of individual freedom." He said time after time that he was for socialism, disarmament, social ownership of property, and that "Communism is the goal." Under the leadership of Baldwin, the ACLU was probed by a special committee of the United States House of Representatives. On January 17, 1931, this committee reported:
"The American Civil Liberties Union is closely affiliated with the Communist movement in the United States, and 90 percent of its efforts are on behalf of communists who have come in conflict with the law. It claims to stand for free speech, free press, and free assembly but it is quite apparent that the main function of the ACLU is to attempt to protect the communists in their advocacy of force and violence to overthrow the government guaranteed to each state by the Federal Government..."
The ACLU expends much of its time and money in defending murderers, homosexuals, drug peddlers, flag-burners, draft-dogers, pornography, Nazi-ism and criminals of all kids. They oppose anybody and anything that is FOR God, Christianity, the Bible, religious displays, and pure morality and true Americanism. The ACLU is the legal arm of the humanist movement in America. It is apparent that they are more interested in promoting atheists, humanism and communism than they are in what little children are taught about creation in the school rooms (although they are now very concerned about that). They seek every opportunity to take advantage of social problems and emotional issues, but always with the same goals and in opposition to the same principles and practices in this country.
When you see the ACLU defending some person or movement, you can with a fair degree of certainty conclude that the person or movement is unscriptural, unethical and un-American! We usually see the arrogant hypocrisy of an organization that claims to fight for civil liberties while at the same time actively repressing views contrary to its own preconceived notions. While piously proclaiming that it is the guardian of religious liberty, the ACLU seeks to force all people in the United States to accept atheistic, evolutionary humanism as their court-decreed state religion.
We will not take too much of our space to tell you what you can see and hear every day, but we remind you of a few examples of what we mean and why we are opposed to the work and influence of the ACLU.
They are currently trying to stop local military units from supporting projects of the Boy Scouts, and they defend using avowed homosexuals to work with boys.
In the last election, 11 states approved amendments banning gay marriages. The press quoted Beth Wilson, of (you guessed it) the ACLU saying, "People get harmed when their relationships are not respected, and this means that relationships won't be respected."
In our local newspaper of November 12, 2004, there is a 7 X 9 inch picture of an ACLU lawyer holding a copy of a biology textbook in Georgia. The education officials of that state had placed disclaimer stickers in those books. A copy of it appears below:
"This textbook contains material on evolution. Evolution is a theory, not a fact, regarding the origin of living things. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully, and critically considered." Approved by Cobb County Board of Education, Thursday, March 28, 2002
It is a theory; nothing else. There is no proof of it anywhere. It is unscientific, unreasonable, unprovable and unscriptural. Approaching the subject "with an open mind" is the last thing the ACLU wants children to do.
They want to remove "under God" from the pledge of allegiance, eliminate prayer in schools, and remove the Ten Commandments from public display. God goes!
What message does this send to the children in public schools when every innocent expression of religious belief is sought out, hunted down, and extirpated as though it were an act of treason? What a shame!
The ACLU is committed to challenging principles of biblical virtue in court and turning anti-Christian views into "the law of the land." It is made up of liberal lawyers and everyday Americans who have been duped by their high-sounding "principles." Wherever biblical principles influence public life, look for the ACLU to be there fighting against them. Wherever common sense dictates some type of reasonable restraint on people's behavior, look for the ACLU to be there. Wherever faith factors in the life of our nation - look for the ACLU to be there attempting to drive it out.
