I'm a Christian. Loved the books. Loved the movies.
Have you read them?
I have.
(And BTW, it's pretend magic. The spells don't work.)
So a troll, a dwarf and an elf go into a bar, and the bartender says to them, "What is this, some kind of joke?"
What about Star wars?
The force good and evil, mind reading, telekinesis...
Sounds pretty evil.
All that did was create a generation of geeks that could program computers.
For those witout any discernment, it might appear that Harry Potter stories are comparable to the Tolkien books. Thanks to summaries like this one, perhaps they would be led to open their eyes.
Fantasy is not for everyone, but the Lord of the Rings and other works of J.R.R. Tolkien are not fantasies that do spiritual harm to souls.
Rowlings' books ARE.
Aha! That would explain why my "Lumos" produces not even the slightest flicker!
No. No they're not.
Have you read them?
It's all in how you use your wand.
Pretend magic? How about the devil: is he pretend, too?
The spells don't work? That means you must have tried them, or else you're opinion is based on a prejudgment and on your ignorance (no first hand data to work with).
BTW, if you did try them and were disappointed, perhaps it was not the fault of a spell, but of your execution of it. How would you remedy that problem?
Have you read the books? I've asked you three times.
Now begone, or I shall turn you into a Gingrich.
The force of good and evil:
Through the work of Star Wars, those words are all redefined today.
In fact, at local K-12 schools, the vast majority of children do not know what evil means anymore. They use the word to describe that which is alluring or titillating. Or worse, the ultimate superlative compliment for someone. What difference is that from devil-worship? Perhaps it's not a CONSCIOUS satanism, but it is uncomfortably close to it. BTW kids are wearing and talking openly satanic things and the administration can't do anything about it: religious descrimination!
Good is principally a feeling now for them, like, "How are you?" "I'm good."
Three times the charm? You said the spells don't work. Consistently inconsistent: I'm not disappointed.
I have read the books and I have told everyone who is willing to listen about their corrupting influence. You, apparently, are among those who would not listen, nor would you desire the truth. For you the truth is whatever you want it to be. You can believe as you will. It's a Free Republic here, after all.
Vade retro satana: Sunt malo quae libas: Ipse venea bibas!
You know nothing about me, what I will listen to or what I desire.
You don't like the books? Fine. Don't read them. Don't let your kids read them.
You and your narrowminded book banning compadres never have been and never will be my judge.
If the spells work, you won't post to me again.
Looks like your narrowminded spells don't work afterall, bub.
JK Rowling turned me into a NEWT!
Precisely.
Thank you for proving my point.
What do you think of "Angel?" Started watching the reruns on TNT recently, and I've gotten into it. The last episode was a pretty compelling depiction of a few people standing their ground and fighting the seemingly hopeless battle against evil.
I always hated Angel on BTVS. If they made a series called Spike I'd be all over it. Spike is cool, Angel is a pretty boy p*ssy.
The first ep of Angel I saw, he had this baby. That's just ridiculous.
Sounds like earlier in the series ... things get interesting in the last couple of seasons, and Spike plays an important role.
And there's an episode in which Angel is transformed into a muppet. Fun stuff.
Whoa, it got started up again!
It's actually kind of funny... the brothers like to spout HP charms at random moments but they've never said any of the "unforgivable curses". Seems like they know that's a step too far...
