The New Pope |
|
4/19/05 |
God always blesses His Church with the type of leader it needs at each time in history. That was true with John Paul II, and it is true with Benedict XVI, formerly Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. His role as the head of the Church's doctrinal office, the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, may seem to some a far cry from what he now has to do as the Universal Pastor of the Church. |
**We at Priests for Life rejoice in the election of Pope Benedict XVI. He will be a blessing for the pro-life movement, and for all people who find comfort that there is such a thing as truth, particularly the truth that life is sacred.**
Pro-life bump!
I was watching EWTN's coverage today of the Pope, and the priest (I forget his name) said something like, I believe we're about to witness one of the greatest pontificates of our time. It just gave me goosebumps..... good goosebumps!
Amen Father Frank!
What a fitting bridge between next Sunday's Gospel "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life" and last Sunday's Gospel "I am the Good Shepherd"!
Wonderfully clear. Thanks for the post and for the link to other writings by our new Pope Benedict.
I had goosebumps all along, from the moment there was white smoke, to hearing that the new Pope would speak, then leaving my computer to go lead a book study group -- "The Lamb's Supper" by Scott Hahn to watching the announcement on NBC -- what our Youth Minister watched at his home and taped it on.
During the book study -- my throat and voice cracked three times and we were just talking about the Mass!
Holy Spirit, bless Pope Benedict XVI!!
Wow. A German-born pope. He's supposed to be a strict conservative, a right-hand advisor to John Paul II. The only bad news is that he's 78, and that means near the end of a normal life-span.
Uh oh! Don't let the secular "humanists" hear about this!
This will not be a good day for John Kerry and Ted Kennedy.
That was Father Neuhaus a convert to the Catholic Church.
