I've been reading through the 1536 edition of the institutes. Very good stuff, very readable. I think many people are scared off of reading material like that just because it was written so long ago.

Thanks, GC. Looks interesting. My husband and I were fortunate enough to meet Dr. Grant last fall when he spoke at the dedication service at our son's school.

Have you used it in a study session with others?

Just wondering.

I have not yet, no. The way it is broken up in sections it would work really well as a study group series.

I haven't checked yet...do you know if there are in fact study guides available?

Amazing Grace Study Guide by Jerry Johnson $12.95

Amazing Grace Study Guide by Jerry Johnson

“If you enjoyed the DVD — Amazing Grace: The History & Theology of Calvinism — then you will find the Study Guide an indispensable tool in helping you and your church family to have the foundational theology of the Reformation planted firmly in your hearts and minds. I would encourage anyone who would like to see the cause of Reformation furthered to purchase and use this workbook.” Dr. Kenneth G. Talbot, President - Whitefield Theological Seminary

As helpful as the video presentation is in illuminating and imparting the doctrines of grace, in the end there is no substitute for an open Bible and the desire to search the scriptures to see “whether these things (are) so.” (Acts 17:11) To that end, the Jerry Johnson (M.Div), the primary author of the Amazing Grace DVD, has written a study guide to help you, your family, church, Sunday school class or cell group understand just how “amazing” grace truly is.

This sixty-page book divides the DVD set into eight “class-sized” segments that run approximately thirty-five minutes each. Along with Bible verses, each section presents questions that are to be considered as the viewer watches the DVD. There are also extra theological notes to more firmly establish the principles of the Reformation.
