These are 'trends' that come and go. Take a look at what happened when one group in Rochester NY got 'spirited' away with themselves.
Fr. Jim Callan, Rev. Mary Ramerman, Fr. Enrique Cadena
Protestants.
I say, more power to them. If they want to start a church and do all sorts of social justice stuff, ordain women, and perform "gay" "marriages", go ahead.
Just don't call yourself Catholic.
Yes, but I also noticed that they have a thriving "Mental illness awareness" ministry. So there is hope.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that St. Joan was no saint?
I hope this "church" is ex-communicated! And SOON!! Then they can hire that new female "priest." LOL
Oh man,you crack me up!!! :) V's wife. (long time no talk).
This sentence here pretty much did it for me, "St. Joan of Arc has a vibrant number of gay and lesbian partners with children. St. Joan of Arc's GLBT Families Group was initiated to meet this diverse group's needs. For more information, please send us an email."

Throughout the website, their "pastor" (I use quotes because I believe he is actually what the Bible calls a "ravenous wolf") is simply referred to as "George." In private I think it is fine to refer to a priest by his first name, if he is a close friend, but in public, the office deserves the respect it is accorded. This is not a church it is a mutual admiration group. What disturbs me the most is that it would appear that the local bishop doesn't care. The Vatican should call the bishop to Rome to give an explanation for this heresy.
Did anyone catch the Prayers for Peace that they say during Mass? I think they have just about every walk of life covered!

Hope that link works!
Good night nurse St. Joans and that other church in Rochester. I can't believe these people think they are Catholic!!
If I found out they sang "Kumbaya" and danced naked in the aisles it wouldn't surprise me.

On the music page, there is no Te Deum or Ave Maria, but there is Imagine and Come and Go With Me.
That's because it isn't really a church.
I have mixed emotions in dealing with these borderline if not outright heretical parishes.
Part of me wants to see the smack down. But then I think about it for a moment I recognize that tempting what they would view as punishment is an important aspect of the psychological makeup of these folks. It's like you're dealing with people who never matured beyond the stage of resisting parental authority. They may be 50, but they never quite emotionally matured beyond the age of 15 or so.
As long as they are going to church I think that there is hope.
I have mixed feelings about them as well. Part of me wants to stay at my current parish(not near as bad as this one!) hoping to put my 2 cents in and help steer them in the "right" direction. I'm just getting really tired of being unhappy at Mass. This Sunday we're trying one that has been rumored to be a haven for more orthodox Catholics. My kids are young and I want them to see what a "good" church is like. It will take someone stronger and more determined than I am to help my church.
Why do I get the horrible feeling that the western church is circling the drain? Thank God for the Eastern Rites. If anyone told me they were thinking of becoming Catholic I would tell them for the sake of their souls to convert within the Byzantine Rite, or one of the other Eastern Rites. If there were no such churches available I think I would tell them to go to the Eastern Orthodox. I no longer attend Mass in the western rite. Its just too painful. How much farther can the west sink?
Not everywhere. Some of us still get incense.
So, perhaps a 500 year plan?
I know how you feel: the Mass should be a haven from the sorrow of this life of separation form our Lord, it's the one place where we can be enveloped in His Real Presence. Too often though, I find my self wondering why we never say the confiteor, use glass chalices for His Precious Blood, sing "Amazing Grace", focus on "peace and justice" as a goal rather than cooperative good works, etc, rather than focus on Christ, His teachings and His presence. When I catch my self sinking in to a dark mood at Mass, I remind my self that at least I have a mass to go to, defective as it may be, unlike so many other Catholics throughout the world.

How well I understand your sentiments. At a certain point, you come to the conclusion that church is a place you go to worship and to seek some sense of spiritual peace. Not to fight the culture wars.
In my case, I threw in the towel and headed east.
