Russian Patriarchate suspends relations with Church of Sweden (Homosexual Marriage)

MOSCOW. Dec 27 (Interfax) - The Moscow Patriarchate has suspended relations with the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Sweden after it decided to establish an official ceremony on blessing homosexual couples.

"We have received with great disappointment and grief the news that not only does the Lutheran Church of Sweden not oppose so-called homosexual marriages, but has even ruled to establish an official blessing ceremony," Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church said in a statement at a session in Moscow on Tuesday.

The members of the Synod believe that the Church of Sweden's decision contradicts the Biblical concept of family and marriage "and the testimonies of the Holy Writing leave us no doubt that homosexuality is considered a sin and 'confusion'," the statement says.

Hopefully this may serve as a wake-up for the millions of Lutherans in Sweden.

More likely this will trigger a number of editorials in Sweden about how backward and unenlightened the Russians really are, followed by a "Human Rights" investigation about how the Russian State won't embrace the growth of like-minded "churches."

Moscow Patriarchate did the right thing. I hope the Vatican follows suit (unless it has already suspended relations with these so-called churches).

Don't know if any of you watched Fox news last night. They did a piece on the dismal attendance at Anglican churches in England. There is extensive closure of Anglican churches in England because no one goes to church there anymore. Many beautiful church buildings are being sold for condos or commercial property, such as restaurants. They then interviewed a priestess who wore a collar; she talked all sorts of babble. Next was a priest who spreads the gospel in pubs over a pint or two...looks like more than two, come to think of it. He was not dressed in any clerical garments.

My point in all of this is declining attendance in Protestant churches is no doubt due to the liberal ecclessiology they espouse.

At the rate things are going, it won't be too many years before the UN's globalist 'peace and justice' world court accuses the Russion Synod of committing 'mental genocide."

Your statement needs to be modified a little to be accurate.

Declining attendence in some mainstream protestant churches is no doubt due to the liberal ecclessiology they espouse.

Comnservative protestant churches, like conservative parishes in the RCC, are growing. Assemblies of God, COGIC, Southern Baptists, most Pentecostal churches etc are growing. Conservative anglican churches (Anglican Mission in America?) are growing. Only the liberal churches are dying (and good riddance to them)

As I have said to fellow Catholics we need holy men to be Priests just as we ourselves are to lead holy lives. But our priests are to be the visiable man of Christ. Yep that's right folks I said man, and I being a woman have no problem with that. The Pope has come out and said he himself cannot change what Jesus started for the priesthood in choosing the apostles as men. If Jesus was truly divine,he could have chosen a woman to be one of the apostles. I mean for goodness sakes God is not about what time period it is or antiwoman for petes sake. For only reasons God knows he wanted men to have the postion of priests. But I also know there were good men who wanted to go into the priesthood but the seminaries wouldn't take them because they were too orthodox in the teachings of the church. We bear no good fruit in the shortage of priests for good reason. As much as I liked John Paul 2 he did not take strong hold of the bishops here. We can only pray Pope Benedict will. I just heard on Fox we also have a shortage in police officers across the nations and they are going to great lengths to recruit people into the academy all over. And I know friends and have relatives who tell me about how hard it is being nurses because of the shortage of nurses. They are asked and taught more and more thngs they are not suppose to be doing becaue of the shortages of nurses. Remember when priests, nurses, and police were highly respected and were the dreams of people to obtain.

Anti-Christian Jeans Are a Trend in Sweden

I'd say being called backward and unenlightened by the average Swede could be taken as a compliment.
