Visit the new AFA Superstore today! Despite receiving nearly a half-million emails, NBC still intends to begin their new series The Book of Daniel next Friday. While NBC refuses to release the sponsors of the program, AFA has identified 10 potential sponsors. Send them an email asking them not to sponsor the show. Ask local advertisers on your NBC affiliate to pull their advertising from the local station if they carry The Book of Daniel.
The network is promoting "The Book of Daniel" as a serious drama about Christian people and the Christian faith. The characters include: Daniel Webster, a drug-addicted Episcopal priest; his alcoholic wife; his son, a 23-year-old homosexual Republican; his daughter, a 16-year-old drug dealing daughter; a 16-year-old adopted son who is having sex with the bishop's daughter; his lesbian secretary who is sleeping with his sister-in-law; and a very unconventional white-robed, bearded Jesus who talks to the priest.
The writer for the program is Jack Kenny, a practicing homosexual who describes himself as being "in Catholic recovery," and is interested in Buddhist teachings about reincarnation and isn't sure exactly how he defines God and/or Jesus. "I don't necessarily know that all the myth surrounding him (Jesus) is true," he said.
Aidan Quinn, who plays Rev. Webster, said if the show offends some Catholics, "I don't really care..."

ROTFL! - well at least the characters aren't just a one dimensional stereotype - They're ALL the one dimensional stereotypes at the same time :~D
PUKE, NBC_ NOTHING> BUT>CESSPOOL
ohfercryinoutloud...
They're not mocking God, they're mocking His followers. And the reality is, this family probably exists in many cities across the country.
The Church needs to be about the business of cleaning her own house.
If we were spotless, this wouldn't be an issue.
People who live in stained glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
>> The correct word is "offense" not offence. <<
These are Anglicans. The word is "offence." To atone, you must dust your lorrie to a theatre and puff fags. (And that has nothing to do with gays.)
Heh... I'm afraid you're going to bloody well have to atone for that ;~D
The last thing any businessman wants is to drive away any of his customers, and that's exactly what this show is going to do.
The amount of viewers this show will continue to attract after the initial novelty wears off probably won't offset the costs of production, and the bad image NBC will have given itself amongst a large portion of Christian society will continue to be a problem.
So, the reason for airing a show like "Daniel", which can't be good for long term business, must be based on criteria other than sound business policy. That only leaves politics as a reason to air the show, and any business that is based on politics is a business either already in trouble or soon will be.
This is beyond disgusting, and I hope that Christians stand up against this offensive slam on our faith! They would not dare do this to any other religion!
so are you saying that it is OK to bash Catholics?
THIS FAMILY PROBABLY EXISTS IN MANY CITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY??!! Puh-lease!
Hey, as a FORMER Episcopalian, I'd be the first to admit that there's a bunch of folks still there who've turned their backs on the Scriptures, their Faith, & the moral teachings of the Church. HOWEVER...I don't care how deep you dig, you aren't going to find the family of ANY Episcopalian priest that is that totally screwed up! The whole premise & cast of characters is a grotesque exaggeration - a preverse contrivance by Mr. Keller to exact some sort of revenge for whatever injuries he imagines he suffered at the hand of Christians - particularly Catholic Christians.
Please take careful note of his self-description as a "practicing homosexual" & being in "Catholic recovery." Practicing what? Buggery? Fisting? Bathhouse liaisons?Recovery from what? From an irrational anger over the fact that The Pope & the Catholic Church that calls his "practicing homosexuality" exactly what it is...disordered & sinful?
Let's be realistic, Corin. The Book of Daniel is just yet another attack on The Church (in the universal sense of the word) by a shrill & bitter homosexual with an agenda.
And, by the way, I agree that The Church needs to be about the business of cleaning her own house. May I suggest bouncing the homosexuals out of the seminary, out of the priesthood, & out of church leadership for a start? And, before anyone gets their knickers in a self-righteous twist...I didn't say anything about bouncing them out of The Church. I'm just saying that we don't put felons in law enforcement or arsonists in the fire department. We certainly shouldn't be putting amoral & self-destructive people in positions of power in our churches.
How the heck did you read that into anything that I wrote?
Let's be Biblical torque, Jesus told us to expect this.
My point continues to be that the Church should be neither shocked nor whiney when the world acts like the world.

Yeah - I realize it's the British spelling, but you have to admit it's not the American usage. :~D
And when is the last time that the euroweenies that run NBC acted like Americans?
Pick another title is what I say--NBC puking filth show.
Yes, but the euroweenies didn't write this headline.
Have you seen the ads for this show? "The Book of Daniel" Jesus looks like a roadie for the Doobie Brothers.
