MARATHON, ON, January 6, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The pastor of Holy Saviour Catholic parish in Marathon, Ontario, Rev. Scott Gale, announced to his parishioners during Masses on New Years day that he is a homosexual and can no longer stand the Church's requirement that he remain celibate. Citing his "longing for a loving relationship," Gale told his parishioners that he was quitting. "It has become increasingly difficult for me to be an official representative of a Church which does not accept and value my sexual orientation," he said reading from a 2 page letter.
Strangely, Fr. Gale has remained in his post since his announcement and is to say his last Mass this Sunday, his last day at "work." This despite the fact that local Bishop Fred Colli has been aware Rev. Gale's decision for quite some time.
According to the local paper, the Bishop gave the priest permission to tell the congregation of his decision. The Bishop added: "I admire (Gale) for having the courage to say, 'This is who I am.'"
However, Bishop Colli has been aware for at least a few years about the problems with Fr. Gale. In August 2003, LifeSiteNews.com reported that Gale had allowed the Toronto Star - Canada's most widely circulated newspaper - to publish a homily in which he excoriated Church teaching on human sexuality. (see the LifeSiteNews.com coverage: http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2003/aug/03082502.html ) Rev. Gale said then that he hoped for a "re-examination of the Church's attitudes regarding homosexuality and those persons with a homosexual orientation." LifeSiteNews.com readers at the time expressed concerns to Bishop Colli regarding Fr. Gale.

"Broke Back Parish".
Don't let the door hit you in the ..... well never mind.
"Oh. I thought they said 'Celebrate.'"
It sounds to me like the Bishop needs to go.
Uhhh... well an "offical representative of the Church" will tell you that you can keep it in your pants.
For the "loving relationship" you are looking for, you'll have to turn in that collar, pallie.
What a POS to announce his filthy private business in Mass for all the kids to hear.
This seems to be happening a lot recently.
Behind every disgraced priest is a disgraceful bishop.
Unless the bishop prefers...
(now I KNOW I'm going to hell...)
You nailed it.
Methinks this article really needs a 'barf alert' added!!!
His final sermon:
"Hi kids! You know what a great guy I am, right? Well, guess what? I'm a practicing homo! It's okay!"
Bastards can't reproduce, they can only seduce and recruit.
Unless we re-write Mt 19: 1-12 that seems outside the realm of possibility.
Well, there's one good thing. At least he left. One good scandal and he's gone now.
Imagine the alternative scenario: he makes the announcement, determines to stay (moves his boyfriend in the rectory), (not likely) he is suspended, and then takes the matter to the Canadian Human Rights Court. Considering their past record, they'd rule against the Church...
"To express concerns:"
Over what? That he was a gay priest or that he's finally leaving?

Na ne Na Na
Hey hey hey
