Interesting story on Pius XII, a maligned saint.
it recalls a sermon our priest gave on the occassion of "Christ the King" feast day, and the priest explained that it was a new feast day. Pius XII created it as a rebuke to the totalitarian leaders of the age, to tell them that God was Sovereign and God was the Highest Authority, not the totalitarian leaders.
It's easy to criticize a Pope, but also easy to forget that Hitler and Stalin would think nothing of taking thousands of priests and shipping them off to concentration camps if they posed a 'threat' to their totalitarian regimes.
