Not true...

In fact, as an accountant and having carefully considered financial ramifications:

1. I am actually going to be financially better off too in New Jersey, despite Jersey's reputation for high taxes. For starters, the Income Tax in Jersey will be about 20% of what Maryland is, so my paycheck will already increase even without the raise I'm getting. Also, there are some parts of Jersey where houses are still affordable that are in decent areas close to good paying jobs for young families like mine, whereas in Maryland, affordable housing is limited to crime infested Baltimore or far away rural parts of the state where good paying jobs are scarce. Affordable for us is under $200,000. It's absolutely ridiculous to pay more than this for modest square footage.

2. The homeschool laws are more lenient...something that be strongly relevant in 4 more years for us.

3. After religious reasons, the culture in Jersey is certainly different. Maryland is heavily anglo-Saxon in culture, whereas Jersey is heavily Italian and Catholic culturally(my own background). This means among other things that I will be enjoying better food and will be more easily befriending people with a like mentality.
