'Satanic' Art In Catholic Church Exposed
WorldNetDaily ^ | March 25, 2006 | Staff

Posted on 03/25/2006 11:29:40 PM PST by Laissez-faire capitalist

Could the Roman Catholic Church's sex abuse crisis be tied to embedded Satanic and occult imagery in its artwork - some of it hundred's of years old?

That is the seemingly incredible thesis of a new documentary, "Rape of the Soul," made not by anti-Catholic bigots, but by devout followers of the Church.

Rape of the Soul is in theatrical release in major cities, including New York and Los Angeles.

The documentary explores the prevalent use of satanic, sexual, and occult and anti-Catholic images in historical and contemporary religious artwork. The film also discusses the acceptance of the artwork at the highest and most trusted levels of the Catholic Church...

..."Artists from DaVinci to Botticelli have imbedded subliminal images into their art for centuries, said Calace...In this case we found penises on crucifixes, anarchy symbols, swastikas, demonic faces and in modern works even the word 'sex' encrypted into the images.

The works in question include modern artists' work currently on the covers of missalettes and hymnals that at this very moment sit in the pews of churches throughout the U.S. and on children's teaching aids."

>>One should remember that the film producers themselves (of the film: "Rape of the Soul") are Catholics<<

So are John Kerry and Teddy Kennedy.

Things are not always what they seem.

Anyone can label themselves anything they like.

I'm sorry, but no matter what kind of grudge one may have against the Catholic Church, anyone who doesn't LTAO at the first sentence should be certified.

>>You know, the one that depicts two skeletal corpses sitting on a throne with an upside-down cross etched into it, and wearing traditional liturgical vestments?<<

That's cute, real cute.
No, no, no, not anti-Catholic at all.

**But I find it ironic that a post cannot be Anti-Semitic but can be Anti-Catholic. That kind of puts us Catholics in our place.**

In a place of persecution and discrimination -- or are we being treated equally Have to think on that one......................thinking and praying...............

I don't know if you want to see it, but for those who are curious about what the real motivation of these filmmakers is, here's the Web address:

The garbage about this not being an "anti-Catholic" hachet-job is patently absurd.

Remember a long time ago when CoucilofTrent, GipperGal and I wanted to start the Troll Hunters? I sent private mails to everyone to ask if any (and I mean ANY) Catholics blasted non-Catholics on their threads. If there was, then we deserved all we got. No one did.

Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
We Catholics may not always be right, but we are not 100% wrong. Yet......

From today's Vespers

Prayers and Intercessions ?
Christ is the head and we are the body. Let us always give praise to our master, who came to serve all and do good for all. Humbly and faithfully, we ask him:
Come, Lord, to your family.
Lord, lend your strength to the bishops and priests of your Church, who share your task as head and as shepherd.
Let them lead all men to the Father through you.
Send your angel to accompany travellers,
keeping body and soul safe from the traps that await them.
Teach us to serve men
like you, who came to serve, not to be served.
Make every human community a place where brother helps brother;
may your presence make it like a city built on rock.
Take pity on all the dead,
and bring them into the light of your presence.

Today's readings (Gospel) focused on the light and the darkness. In what ways are we treating one another here? Are we acting as though we are walking toward the light and love of God? Or are we walking toward the darkness and sin of Satan?

Open mind? How's this? The top of a ice cream container was made to ridicule Allah. Actually, not really, it was just swirls, but it looked like an Arabic letter. According to this logic though, it wasn't coincidence at all, but a conspiracy to denigrate Muslims.

You seem to be big on logic, try Occam's Razor.

Any painting can "hide" alternate images---completely by accident. People can see what they want to see. It's completely subjective. Even if a painting was purposefully designed by the artist to contain hidden images, it still doesn't scream "conspiracy!" Unless these guys have genuine proof in written form of a conspiracy certified by a document expert, it's pure conjecture and mental wanking.

You fail to grasp my essential point, which is that this film-based upon all of the evidence available at the moment-is merely another tawdry piece of Hollywood schlock intended to offend and demean people who believe in traditional values, and who are God-fearing Christians.

This is Dan Brown with added shock value.

And lastly, anyone can see - by looking at the beginning of this thread to now - that I have an open mind concerning what the filmakers have rolled out.

Do you?

Well, I haven't seen the film, so I wouldn't venture an opinion as to whether or not it communicates truth or lies. How about you? Have you seen the film?

Apparently the reviewer for the Seattle Times, disregarding the subject matter, thinks it is a boring film. Not a good piece of art.

Your post interested me in Mr. Calace and his experience as a film producer. Not the film itself. I started out searching the web for Mr. Calace's other work in film. Nothing else seemed to pop up in the first half dozen pages other than re-posts of the original press release from Silver Sword starting in 2004 and this lone film review.

Yes, you are asking everyone here to believe that this movie might be true, otherwise why would you bring it to our attention? I am starting to think that people will believe anything they read on the internet.

Tradition consists of the teachings that have been handed down from the time of the apostles.

BTW, the Catholic Church determined the canon of Scripture. Without the Catholic Church, you Protestants wouldn't have a Bible.

Finally, there were not many written documents, besides Scripture, before the Council of Nicea since the Church was persecuted by the Roman Empire up until the year 315, when Constantine ended the persecution. Good try.
