Christian democrat ??
self | Sept 15 2006 | thepresidentsbestfriend

Bob Beckel claims to be a born again Christian...Fox News,Hannity.

Bob Beckel says he is a born again Christian.Speaking as a sinner saved by grace,I challenge! He went on to bear false witness within a minute of his claim.

God bless Bob Beckle, but I dont believe a Christian can continue in the democrat party, arguing for abortion, gay rights and banning the name of Jesus from the public square.

I challenge the term "Christian democrat" all togeather. I don`t buy it for a moment.I don`t believe Jimmy Carter is a Christian either. To continue to support abortion etc, after being supposedly saved, does not wash!

To be fair,"moderate republican Christian" is also a oxymoron.

Now I guess people will want to tear me a new one?

Christian Democrat? Moderate Republican Christian?

Are not both of these oxymorons?

The Democrat Party could use a few Christians.

There are many Christians who are into 'social justice' (other word for socialism) offered by 'old' Democratic Party. Not all Christians are into libertarian/ market-liberalism ideas.

As far as I can tell, being a Democrat or a Republican is not a requirement for salvation. There is a large body of Democrats who are clearly anti-Christian, but I don't think we can paint with a large brush.

A party that is pro-abortion, panders to gay rights activists, supports growing secularism in schools-courts and elsewhere....... can not be called "Christian".

The Democrats are trying to 'sell themselves' to the public by reinventing themselves.

I´m a Christian Democrat, so you won my attention. But I´m not belong to the Democrat Party, I´m a member of Germany´s Christian Democratic Union. It was founded as the union of democratic Catholics and Protestants in 1945 and has become the most successful and powerful party here. Currently, we hold the offices of the President, the Chancellor, the Parliament President, the Bundesrat ("Senate") President and the "Supreme Court" President. So, being a Christian AND a Democrat IS NOT a contradiction. :-)

Many Dems think that remembering the poor means the government remembering the poor. But as far left as the Republican Party has gone in the way of programs and spending, I tend to agree with you. There are a lot of pacifist Christians, too, who believe the absence of violence is peace. But, again, the "big tent" party accepts those of the anti-war persuasion, too.

How someone like Bob Beckel is judged is not up to us. I can't imagine a Christian advocating things that are against the Bible, but that is between Bob Beckel and God.

the problem is that they will retort with the killing of people in Iraq, or some other conflict. They point to "social justice" concerns, help for the poor, etc... They will say that conservatives don't care anymore once the child is born, blah, blah, blah.

I think you can be a Christian and a Democrat. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that Christians can't be lacking in analytical skills, information, or even political judgment. And, though it isn't the most charitable thing to say, some people are stupid, and some of them are Christians. I have no reason to think that Jimmy Carter has not accepted Jesus Christ, but he shouldn't be allowed to serve on the Plains, GA town commission, much less as POTUS.

The hole in the "Christian democrat" theory is this....if they are truly Christian, why are they not parading against the leadership of the democrat party, to be open to pro life positions.

They obviously don't believe in the Bible. The Bible is also crystal clear about homosexuality.

And no,I don't hate homosexuals etc.I am a sinner saved by grace, nothing more.

BTW this is my first thread ever, been lurking for about 10 years, under user names that are forgotten.

You are right what you say about God being the judge.

The Bible does say that when a fellow brother Christian, errors in such a serious way, that we are to approach him with the elders of the Church.I'm paraphrasing, forgive me.The scripture at the moment I can not find.

The person is to be approached by the elders, goes on to say that if he insists in continuing with this sin(whatever it may be) eventually asked to leave.

I will find the scripture.

Does this mean the criminal liberal news media is going to pontificate on the evils of the "religious left?"

Sir,
The term "Democrat" in the United States is the moniker of a particular political party that has a platform and espouses specific policies. It is not relevant that a political party in another nation uses the term to define themselves.

You are correct. Some democrats/liberals probably will get to heaven. We should look forward to meeting both of them.

I have learned that even two Christians of the same denomination will differ on which parts of the Bible apply and/or what they mean. It seems unfathomable to us conservatives that Christians would support the Democrat Party, but I am sure there are more than a few Democrat Christians who believe the same of us. Keep in mind, also, that many Democrats are DINO's. They hunt, they fish, they go to church, etc., but because they are in a union or because their folks were Democrats, or because of Jackson, Sharpton, Cleavers, McKinney, Obama, et. al., they stay Democrat.

I had a state house democrat Rob Hogg visit my neighborhood trying to get the vote out. He claimed to be a Christian and I chewed him out saying/yelling "YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF BEING IN THE ABORTION AND GAY PARTY!".
