I'll look for it.
I'm praying that the next generation turns back to Truth. It has to be incredibly hard for them. They have all the negative institutional structures to deal with. What I mean is, they need an education (overly liberal and morally deficient). They need to get a job, often having to be hired by the Clergy that are a product of (morally deficient schools) and then they have to bide their time until there is an opportunity to change things. It's like turning the Titanic with an outboard motor.
That only works if folks are inclined to believe "you". If folks would see Walter Cronkite lying about the 1968 "Tet Offensive", NBC lying about exploding pickup trucks, ABC lying about unsanitary practices in supermarkets, Dan Rather presenting forgeries as military documents, the constant drumbeat of dissembling about taxes and who pays them, the homeless, global warming, nuclear power, gun control, the supposed 'right' to kill unborn babies, the supposed 'quagmire' in Iraq, and a whole host of other matters, every time they turn on the "Six O'Clock News", folks wouldn't believe a word the MSM says. They've been systematically lying at least since Walter Duranty and the New York Times lied about Stalin overseeing the murder by starvation of millions of Ukrainians.
The wonder is that anybody with more than two functioning brain cells believes anything from MSM. I guess they tell just enough truth to suck people in.
I think that propaganda can be successful if used in a variety of different media. If you have Hollyweird constantly producing negative images of good traditional role models, institutions, or practices in conjunction with "serious" news sensationalizing the negative in short order you have a generation that believes the negative. Also, Christians are held to an impossible standard by liberals. We must never do anything wrong, or say anything wrong or we are viewed as hypocrites.
I think we Baptist's have one advantage in dealing with this problem in that we look for our Pastors to be married and have a family, or starting one. It doesn't eliminate the problem, but it's usually easier to identify someone with sexual deviances based on their marriage and family. The RCC has the advantage of having a centralized bureaucracy, that if it's looking to root out the problem can do so quicker.
There's good news ... the "good" seminaries are full. As in they accept as many students as they can possibly handle, turning some applicants away only because there's no room in the dorms to house them and no room in the classrooms to teach them. Their fundraising letters talk about God, and preaching the Gospel, and serving the needs of the faithful ... what they're begging for is capital to expand their physical plant.
Please at least pray for them ... the Seminary staff and faculty, the Bishops who support them, and most of all the students. There are "principalities and powers" we contend with ... and whatever theological disagreements we may have, we are in some sense on the same side.
Fair enough! ;-)
That last paragraph is directed to "ALL" more than to you specifically.
Yes, they're part of the problem ... and "entertainment" can be an avenue of propaganda that can blindside even the most hardened "news skeptic".
I agree. We can go back to beating each other up over our different understandings and practices anytime, but allowing the destruction of our culture is just not CHRISTIAN.
Mel Gibson is a more dramatic example. He gets drunk and says some terrible things, so of course now anything he has ever done is bad. Another example would be the Pastor who was "outed" just prior to the election, so of course all Evangelical Christians are hypocrites.
We have been so sensitized that its not even permissible to discuss the ratios between homosexual clergy and post pubescent boys being molested. IOW, what % of those who commit these crimes are heterosexual vs. homosexual. If it was a problem with pedophiles the victims would not be post pubescent. I never see this being reported, do you?
I've answered every question you posed. Perhaps you just don't like the answers.
No, you have not. You have not in any way addressed the general reliability of the MSM. I specifically asked whether you understood my opinion of them, and I specifically asked whether you considered CNN to be generally in the habit of telling the complete and unadulterated truth. You have not answered. If you don't want to, fine. Just say so, and I'll let the matter drop.
You have not in any way addressed the general reliability of the MSM.
LOL. Some of the MSM are fools, some evaders of the truth, and some try to report the truth as best as possible. Nothing is perfect. However, I take exception to your blanket statement, "All the MSM are liars." That's ludicrous and certainly let's you off the hook for being responsible for acting on information presented to you.
I specifically asked whether you understood my opinion of them
I already acknowledged that your opinion is clear -- "All the MSM are liars."
and I specifically asked whether you considered CNN to be generally in the habit of telling the complete and unadulterated truth.
No one is capable of telling the "complete and unadulterated truth." I take everything I hear with a box of salt; I read as much as I can; I look around to see what's going on; and then I form an opinion. I think this is a prudent and satisfactory way to go about gathering information. Don't you?
You have not answered.
Yes, I have.
Now please answer my earlier question. Do you believe the two young men who came forward and were highlighted in the CNN report, "Sins of the Father?"
Do you believe they were sexually molested by their priest who was entrusted with their education?
Do you think the judge and jury erred when they sentenced the homosexual, predatory priest to prison?
2) Don't you? I assume that the MSM are deliberately trying to deceive me. I think that's "prudent and satisfactory".
3) To your 3 questions, I haven't the slightest idea. I don't waste my time with CNN. Juries are right more often than not, so I'll trust them. CNN is wrong, or distorted, or incomplete more often than not (and by a wider margin than juries), so I don't watch them much.
I've been paying more or less of attention to MSM for the better part of four decades. I've caught them in innumerable distortions, partial truths, and fabrications, from the petty to the grand. They've earned my contempt and utter distrust.
"Thanks for the update!"
During Dew's arraignment, two inmates who were in the barred holding area with him began a profanity-laced tirade as the judge began reading the charges against the pastor. One inmate yelled out, "Are you serious, man? That's what he's here for. He's a coward." The other inmate said, "I'm not standing in here with him. He's raping children." The judge ordered both of them to step out as court continued.
Some members of Dew's congregation were in the courtroom during the proceedings. Linda Coleman, Praise Tabernacle's administrator, said she believes Dew will be found innocent. "If you knew him as a person you would never believe the accusations that were made against him. He's a man of God. He lives what he preaches," she said. Coleman added she's known Dew for most of his life and believes he was born to become a preacher who leads people to Christ.
Chris Baker, pastor of Coastal Ministries said he's worried about Dew and his alleged victim, "It's an unfortunate matter that this happened and we can't be judgmental of either party. Both parties need to be prayed for and just think the best for both of them," Baker said.
A group of more than a dozen people gathered on the sidewalk outside of the jail to pray for Dew and his deliverance.
Dew's bail has been set at $500,000, but prosecutors said they would try to have it raised to $1.2 million at a hearing on March 19.
Here we go again!
Too bad the churches don't have a fool-proof test for identifying and throwing out homosexual ministers.
