Niceness Nodules

I am still marveling at this incredible gem. It is right up there with "Viking Kitties," "Hugh" and "Zot." We need Mrs. Tax to define this gem of a term. Could it be when someone is being especially polite to a real newbie dolt or something?

So-and-so is feeding the newbie niceness nodules!
It is too precious a term to waste.

Thanks for clarifying ... I’m glad to know that it was just a random slimeball.

We slip Niceness Nodules to cranky people, hoping they’ll lighten up and have a Guinness.

I did not intend that as anti-commander in chief. I spent a lot of time on the election, and I support him in his programs where they coincide with conservative principles.

My apologies. I guess it isn't a good day for me on FR.

{satire follows:}

Yeah, but those durned Cath-o-lics aren't REALLY Christians so that stuff doesn't apply in REAL Christians dealing with them.

Yeah, but those durned Proddies are nuthin' but a bunch of schismatic heretics...maybe even apostate...not even real Christians...(etc)...

{/end satire}

Thanks for the thread! A     (fill in the blank)    -bashing moratorium sounds like a really good idea, at least for the remainder of Holy Week.

Preach the gospel. And if necessary, use words.

…or does everyone have his complement of Niceness Nodules for the day already?

Niceness nodule?

Wrong kind of nodule, right?

A WHOLE DIFFERENT good thread topic would be

BIBLICAL HUMOR and SATIRE—Examples and discussion.

LOL.

Yeah, silliness in the service of relationships is a good thing. Destructive of relationships can be a problem.

Then there’s humor highlighting roadblocks to relationships. Not sure how else to label that.

Good points.

Though I fear I may not always come down precisely on the side you would in the way you would when you would.

Christ Himself used satire and fierce mocking in some situations.

But I have been trying to refine and reform my use of such. Don’t pretend to have arrived. Open to exhortations.

I would like to thank you all for your encouragement and your contributions to this thread. Personally I thought that it would wither on the vine. I guess I will have to work on putting my trust in the Spirit.

I was presented with a dilemma today in that I found an article that pointed to a problem in my church (Southern Baptist) that I wished to address, but was highly critical of another church. How do I post such an article without it becoming a bash fest? It could not be made a caucus because it had criticisms of another church.

I decide to go ahead and post the article with my first post stating my purpose for the post and a plea to keep it introspective of my church and not attacking the other church. A plea for edification and not enmity.

In doing so, I hope by example, to set a civil tone for the entire thread. I do realize that in such a thread that it is often necessary to post something that might be offensive or uncomplimentary to others, but maybe by setting the tone we can keep such posts in the realm of loving admonition rather that out and out bashing.

Please check out this thread here and tell me what you think. It is just an idea, but we have to start somewhere. Is there something better, different or more that I could do that would help? I would appreciate your comments.

Religion Mod - If we post threads like this, asking for civility at the top, could it be possible to lock or remove the thread upon request of the person who posted it, if the thread disintegrate into senseless bickering?

INDEED. Excellent points, I think.

Goodness, we might even learn to behave like Christians with one another.

Oh, Dear me what is the world coming to.

Next thing you know, they’ll know we are Christians by our love for one another! Clearly Jesus IS coming again!

I agree with DarthVader.

Excellent points about holding ONE ANOTHER to account—especially those of comfortable like-mindedness.

I have a hunch . . .

That the beleagured Religion Moderator is weary enough of the bickering and UnChristian childishness that he would do more or less what he could manage to do to help such threads as this one and the proposed one reach it's goals. I'm heartily thankful for that probability, in any case.

THERE ARE ENOUGH OF US OF LIKE MINDED CHARITY [I think] that we SHOULD be able to POUND THE DISSENTING RABBLE ROUSERS INTO SILENCE by group dogpiling their offensive post with stern exhortations to knock it off. And, if they fail that, then to do say a Shaker type SHUNNING of all further posts by them regardless of how provockative???

Just a proposal. Others have other alternatives???
