Wellllllllll, your points are well taken.
Perhaps . . .
“TAKE SUCH TONES AND WORD CHOICES TO YOUR OWN THREAD. THIS IS TO BE A CONSTRUCTIVE CHARITABLE GRACIOUS CAUCUS THREAD.”
Or some such.
Perhaps one word as you say:
“ENOUGH!”
or
“ENOUGH OF THAT SORT OF THING!”
I think my notion of “pound” was a pic of the whole of the good folks on the thread communicating as with one voice—KNOCK IT OFF! And then ignoring the offender accordingly—in absolute unison.
Anyway—we shall see.
I’ll try and post the devotional thread within 24 hours of getting the list. Though I guess we could start with one almost at random.
Ok. Now I understand. It is amazing how much different your suggestion appears to me without the "POUND THE DISSENTING RABBLE ROUSERS INTO SILENCE" included. Now it sounds like united resolve where before it sounded to me more like instant retribution. : )
I think that this serves as an example of how the tone of our words determine how they are received.
But I agree that an admonition, a plea to stop and if not headed shunning the offender, is probably the best way to handle this sort of thing. The only question is will enough people go along with this to make it effective? We will have to leave that part up to God.
