London, England (AHN) - A gray Volkswagen Golf once owned by Pope Benedict XVI is up for sale on e-Bay, with the current highest bid at $202,750. Proceeds from the auction will go to Habitat for Humanity Great Britain.

The Pope's private secretary bought the car from a dealer in Siegen in 1999 and sold it back to the dealer in 2004. In 2005 a young German student bought the car unaware of its previous owner, but later found out and sold it on eBay to the online casino Golden Palace for $245,000.

The car has not been driven since 2005 because Golden Palace only used it for promotional purposes. It has about 46,000 miles on it, but other details about its condition were not given.

The auction ends on April 14 at 9:18 British time.

This auction has some good questions and answers:

“”Q: Hey there GP! Just wondering does the car come with any extras like air freshener, holy pocket change in the glove compartment, CD’s or other items you would see in a car? Thanks - eBay Beavis Apr-09-07
A: We took out the Metallica CD’s, I’ll be happy to throw in a brand new pine air freshener to the winning bidder.

Q: How much extra is it to have the pope personally deliver the car to St. Louis, Missouri - USA? Apr-07-07
A: You can call him and ask, although I think he might be a little busy now, being easter and all..

Q: Is this car so blessed that one might actually expect it to be safer to drive, or is it not quite that blessed since Ratzinger wasn’t yet Pope when he acquired it? Is it perhaps blessed enough to have effectively bulletproofed the windows? In short, how blessed is it - scale of 1 to 10? Apr-07-07
A: On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say it’s blessed at an Eleven! (which also rhymes with heaven) “”
