Islam is a syncretist cult. It took bits from Judaism, bits from (mostly Docetist and Arian-tinged) Christianity, and bits from paganism. That was one of the secrets of its success, since Mohammed imposed it by the sword but also realized that it would go down a little better if it had recognizable features.
