It's a secret.
Ah ha...that explains everything.
I know, i know...you could tell us but you have to kill us, right?
There is an advertisement on television (I don't know what for) where 5 or 6 people are on a tram heading up a mountain. The tram stalls and one guy (who is living the "Secret") tells everyone to think positively. In the corner another guy (must be a Freeper) looks around and sees the button to restart the tram. He pushes it, the tram continues up the mountain and the "Secret" guy thinks his power of self accomplished it.
Egotistical, it's all about me, I'm the greatest, I can do anything type of thinking. Instead of founding their life on our Father, they base it on themselves and wrap it up in a glowing, beautifully wrapped package.
How is this different from the claims of Christian faith-healers? I have heard plenty of essentially identical bunkum from them, claiming that disease can be cured if you only pray hard enough and have enough faith.
The innocent-victim argument surely falls as heavily on them as it does on the psychic quacks. "Negative thinking" is not that much different from "Lack of faith".
Interesting that Howard Davis ignores this topic completely.
Now that sounds funny.

That's certainly what it sounds like and makes sense that it's taking root in Hollywood.
Certainly there are some who claim to be Christian that may take this tack. In fact, they may be practicing "The Secret" and not realize they've been deceived.
But I believe that most Christians when it comes to healing through prayer know that any healing comes at or on God's timeline, not our own. Instant miracles may happen, but God may withhold healing for reasons only he knows.
I largely agree with the cautions and exhortations.
However, RE:
The most prominent book in this marketing blitz, The Law of Attraction, explains that every negative experience, accident, mishap and influence in a person’s world are the product of his own thinking.

SCRIPTURE SAYS: AS A MAN THINKS IN HIS HEART, SO IS HE.
What we think is important. We are responsible to take each thought captive to the will and purposes of Jesus The Christ, by His Spirit’s grace and help.
We must overcome by the Blood of The Lamb and the word of our testimony.
I agree and and the scripture you're quoting from agrees with the danger of the "The Secret"
Pro 23:4 Labor not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.
Pro 23:5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
Pro 23:6 Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:
Pro 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. (Matthew 17:20)
Faith means doing God's will, not our own. If God wants you to move the mountain, then it will move. If you're moving it for your own purpose, it won't.
Thx.
The Secret is actually a re-hashing of a New Age concept called "hermeticism", and is based on a book written by an American called "The Science of Getting Rich" (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Science_of_Getting_Rich ). Basically the producer of the video tarted it up and interviewed a bunch of New Agers to round out the DVD.
That explains why I haven't seen it. I don't watch Oprah, and I don't shop at either WalMart or Costco on a regular basis.

Thanks for the information. That's interesting.
Gnosticism.
