Hello...off topic, but do you know of any good and correct reesouce where I can read about the Concordant that Pope Pius XII signed with Hitler? Googling didn't help much...all I got was the book Hitler's Pope.

I had NO idea that our beloved Church would sign a POLITICAL document.

See The Pius War, published about 3 years ago, edited by Joseph Bottum (formerly of the Weekly Standard and now of First Things) and Rabbi David Dalin. Particularly useful is the masterful and comprehensive 180 page annotated bibliography of the entire controversy prepared and included therein by William Doino, Jr. who writes for Inside the Vatican and has written for the Wanderer and for National Review. Enjoy.

The concordats signed by Vatican diplomats (remember that the Vatican City is also a nation) generally made provision for Roman Catholic education in government schools in Europe and made explicit the rights of the Church as a Church. Since the First Amendment freedom of worship is an American phenomenon and not usually a policy reflected in European constitutions or laws, it was necessary to protect the Church and its mission by diplomatic treaties.

Finally, I believe that Eugenio Pacelli was not yet pope (elected to be Pius XII in 1939 on the death of Pius XI) when he signed the concordat with Germany which was not yet fully Nazi. There was also an encyclical published in German called Mit Brennender Sorge (With Burning Tears) denouncing Naziism in its own language.

Relax.

More manufacturing of scandal by those who hate the Church.

Cardinal Pacelli (as he then was) was doing all he could to guarantee the right of Catholics to educate their children in Catholic schools and to marry in the Catholic Church. The Concordat was negotiated with von Papen, who was a Catholic prince and long-time member of the Center party in Germany. Hitler was not involved, other than that he had become chancellor a couple of months before the Concordat was signed.

It was one of many concordats that were negotiated with various European powers to guarantee rights of Catholics.

you have to realize that for over a thousand years, in order for the church to flourish in Europe and protect itself from invaders and rulers, the pope had to sign agreements with the kings and governments stating that the church would not get involved with the political affairs of that king/kingdom/country, etc. And on the other end, the kings would allow the church to stay in their country and not kick the church out. This way the churches, monasteries schools and convents were allowed to stay and keep the faith alive.
