Lesbian priest among nominees for Episcopal bishop

The Episcopal Diocese of Chicago included an openly lesbian priest among five nominees for bishop Tuesday, as fellow Anglicans demand that the church bar gay bishops.

The Rev. Tracey Lind, dean of Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland, who has a female partner, will be on the November 10 ballot.

If she wins, she would be the second bishop living with a same-sex partner in the Episcopal Church. New Hampshire Bishop V. Gene Robinson, who has a male partner, was consecrated in 2003, pushing the world Anglican Communion to the brink of schism.

You gotta love those “churches” that put their sexual deviants on a pedestal. The Catholic Church tried it and they got creamed. Weird how that works.

We now know the answer to the age-old question, “Say, who do you have to screw to get elected Episcopalian bishop in this joint?”

MAKING THE NUMBERS
Christopher Johnson, Midwest Conservative Journal

The field for the next Episcopal Bishop of Chicago is out and Yips has the early line.  The line-up seems to be pretty much standard-issue TEC left.  There's the obligatory homosexualThis guy's on the board of Planned Parenthood.  And the Rev. Margaret Rose, TEC's Director of Women’s Ministries, is famous for this celebrated episode.

What's going to happen?  Some liberal will win but don't hold me to that.  Don't know who the favorite would be at this point but I'm pulling for Rose.  I have to figure that her consecration ceremony would be extremely interesting.  Perhaps even vaguely Christian.

A surprise to the Captain and a disappointment to this department is the absence of Chicago's own Bonnie "It's a Walther 9mm Semiautomatic, Not Oysters Rockefeller It's a River, Not a Pie" Perry from consideration as the homosexual candidate.  I still think Ms. Perry's "It's a Tilapia Filet, Not a Belt Sander It's a River, Not a Pie" was a great sermon and I looked forward to beating that concept to death some more reading more of her contributions.

This has gone right over from comedy into tragedy.

It makes me very sad to see what has become of my former denomination.

But nobody is so bad as to be useless. They can always serve as an Awful Warning.

The Catholic Church didn’t put them on a pedestal, especially not like this. This is not to minimize the enormous stain and scandal caused by the homosexual priests and pedophiles, but it is a distinctly different type of issue.

As a Protestant watching from outside, I would completely agree that the Catholic position is much more acceptable. There is no outward endorsement of sin, even though by not rooting out the problems sooner, it appears one of “omission” instead.

Both are bad, but the Vatican has never wavered on this issue.

And I, as a Protestant, am immensely grateful during this time of chaos among those who claim Christ.

Thank you and I agree with the “sin of omission” comment. While Ignatius of Antioch said to paraphrase, “Where the Bishop is, there is the Church,” it is also true that the Road to Hell is paved with the skulls of bishops.

Perhaps there’s a church equivalent of the moviebiz “I know a girl so dumb, she slept with the writer.”

God bless the faithful in this struggle. In the end, Jesus will win, no matter who says what in this age.

How does a homosexual justify their actions with scripture? Do they argue that those passages against homosexual activity are bogus? I don’t understand it.

If the priestess wins, that will be the end of the TEC’s membership in the Anglican Communion!
